Vith Homsombath was born in Laos. He's the youngest of four children. He and his family immigrated to the United States in 1980. 

He has a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from the University of Massachusetts in Boston. The Good Samaritan is his first book. He lives in Bartow, Florida. 

Besides reading and writing, Vith also likes to cook, paint and draw, fix things around the house, work in the garden, and enjoys watching sports on TV.
