Conclusion

Music, as with all art, is a statement of the culture and society which produced it.  It  can be a powerful comment on who we are.  The music you listen to (consume!) is even a reflection of who you are.

The question really is:  Can you use music to change your world?   How?
As a listener?
As a performer?
 As a composer?

Music can be a powerful tool in the hands of anyone who knows how to use it.  As you contemplate the stories you have learned about our music, I challenge you to be a music maker - a mover and shaker in the world where you live.

Rule

We are the music makers,
We are the dreamers of dreams,
Wandering by lone sea-breakers,
     And sitting by desolate streams:--
World-losers and world-forsakers,
On whom the pale moon gleams:
We are the movers and shakers
Of the world for ever, it seems.
