Mi Casa
When Alexis came to visit me after I moved back to Oaxaca, as she walked up the stairs to my new home, she said she was prepared to tell me how much she missed my home in Texas.  Then she quickly added, "Forget that place, this is a mansion."  It may not be a mansion but it is a beautiful, spacious home with a colonial Mexican touch.  I rent it from my dear friend, Angel Garcia, who now lives in England.  Not only did I get a home, I also got a family.  His mother, sisters, and brothers and their families all live only a few blocks away and my visiting friends and I have shared their generous hospitality many times.  The Mexicans really do mean it when they say "Mi casa es su casa" (my home is your home).

Here's my casa.  The balcony above the gates goes to
my bedroom.  Above it is the patio for the 4th floor
bedroom.  There is parking behind the gates.

These plants have grown recently.  The stairs lead home.

Sorry that the house isn't handicapped friendly but
the stairs keep Rusty and
me in shape.

Here's the entrance patio.  During parties, we set up
  tables for 20 people here.

Everyone loves the cactus plants and the lights.

Looking left from the adjoining photo you see the
door from the master bedroom to the patio.

Alexis loved the star lights and took one to Boston
Looking down from the entrance patio, you can see where my neighbors and I park our vans.  The patio back of my van leads to their apartment.

This photo shows a closer view of the beautiful floor tiles in the livingroom.

Here is the livingroom seen from the stairs.  The wall
colors are very Mexican and bright.  I love them!

On the right you see the hallway which leads to the master suite and guest bedroom.

What's a home without friends.  This was taken during
Alexis's holiday visit.  Yes, that beautiful dome is me.
