2. LEVI² MALLETT (PETER¹) was born in 1819 in Wilkes County, NC, and died on June 06, 1862 in Lexington, KY of an illness that he contracted as a member of the 24th KY Infantry Regiment USA during the Civil War. In the fall of 1861, he fled from Hawkins County, TN to Camp Nelson, KY with Owen Sizemore to avoid conscription into Confederate service like many of his Hancock County and Hawkins County cousisn. He told a friend that he would rather die than fight for the Confederates.

Levi Mallett married ELIZABETH MINOR February 15, 1842 in Hancock Co, TN, daughter of JOHN MINOR and SUSAN GOINS. She was born 1823 in Hawkins County, TN, and died April 10, 1861 in Hawkins Co, Tennessee.

3. WILLIAM JEFFERSON² MALLETT (PETER¹) was born in 1825 in Wilkes County, NC. He married JOHANNAH ANDERSON. She was born in 1830 in Grayson County, VA, and was the daughter of STEPHEN ANDERSON and SARAH PERKINS. William Jefferson Mallett was a member of Company I 16th Tennessee Cavalary Battalion (Neal's) CSA during the Civil War. His family is found in Bradley County, TN after the war but William Jefferson Mallett may have been dead by 1870.
