All About Us

The Andrew Winter Guard of Tinley Park, Illinois has successfully competed in both the Midwest Color Guard Circuit and Winter Guard International (WGI) for many years. During these years, the guard has accomplished great feats and been named "Champions" numerous times. In the past, they were consistent Regional Champions, National finalists, and were awarded with the gold medal at WGI in 1987.

This is the history that built a foundation for the next generation of winter guard members. After a short break, 3 staff members and 12 girls reinstated the proud traditions of Andrew High School with their 2001 Scholastic Regional A show entitled "Rhythm Is Gonna Get Ya." This group started as the under dogs and worked their way up to attaining the silver medal at Circuit Championships.

The Andrew Winter Guard is an extra-curricular activity of the high school and a branch of the music program. We have a dedication to great performance that is accomplished through commitment, athleticism, dance, and drama. Over the span of 6 months, we develop and rehearse a show concept that is taken to competition venues and performed for judges and fans. We build self-respect and teach ourselves and others that placements don't count, it's how you feel when you leave that floor that makes a difference.

Four years ago, we would have never imagined that we would need to bring out two guards in order for all of the interested students to participate. Well, it's happened. Andrew will have a guard in the Regional A division and another in the Open division.

This year’s A show is entitled “TBD" The performance piece will be "Bolero" by Maurice Ravel.
This year's O show is entitled “TBD" The performance piece will be "The Wood Song" by Indigo Girls.
