Dixit Dominus [ print | translation]
Dixit Dominus Domino meo:
Sede a dextris meis
Donec ponam inimicos tuos
Scabellum pedum tuorum.
Virgam virtutis tuae
Emitet Dominus ex Sion,
Dominare in medio inimicorum tuorum.
Tecum principium in die virtutis tuae,
in splendoribus sanctorum:
Ex utero ante luciferum genui te
Iuravit Dominus et non paenitebit eum:
Tu es sacerdos in aeternum
Secumdum ordinem Melchisedech.
Dominus a dextris tuis,
Confregit in die irae suae reges.
Iudicabit in nationibus, implebit ruinas,
Conquasabit capita in terra multorum.
De torrente in via bibet,
Propterea exaltabit caput.
Gloria Patri, et Filio, et spiritui Sancto:
Sicut erat in principio, et nunc, et semper,
Et in saecula saeculorum. Amen.

Sound of Music [ midi | print]
The hills are alive with the sound of music
With songs they have sung for a thousand years
The hills fill my heart with the sound of music
My heart wants to sing every song it hears
My heart wants to beat like the wings of a bird
That rise from the lake to the trees
My heart wants to sigh like a chime that flies
From a church on a breeze
To laugh like a brook when it trips and falls
Over stones on its way
To sing through the night
Like a lark who is learning to pray
I go to the hills when my heart is lonely
I know I will hear what I heard before
My heart will be blessed
With the sound of music
And I'll sing once more

Maria [ print]
Berthe: She climbs a tree and scrapes her knee; her dress has got a tear
Sophia: She waltzes on her way to mass and whistles on the stairs
Berthe: And underneath her wimple she has curlers in her hair
Catherine: I've even heard her singing in the abbey
Agatha: She's always late for chapel
Sophia: But her penitence is real
Berthe: She's always late for everything!
Catherine: Except for every meal
Berthe: I hate to have to say it, but I very firmly feel
All four: Maria's not an asset to the abbey
Margaretta: I'd like to say a word in her behalf
R. Mother: Then say it Sister Margaretta
Margaretta: Maria makes me laugh!
R. Mother: How do you solve a problem like Maria
How do you catch a cloud and pin it down
Margaretta: How do you find the word that means Maria
Catherine: A flibbertigibbet
Sophia: A will-o'-the-wisp
Berthe: A clown
R. Mother: Many a thing you know you'd like to tell her
Many a thing she ought to understand
Berthe: But how do you make her stay and listen to all you say
R. Mother: How do you keep a wave upon the sand
Margaretta: How do you solve a problem like Maria
R. Mother: How do you hold a moonbeam in your hand
Sophia: When I'm with her I'm confused,
out of focus and bemused,
and I never know exactly where I am...
Agatha: Unpredictable as weather
Catherine: She is flightly as a feather
Margaretta: She's a darling
Berthe: She's a demon
Margaretta: She's a lamb
Sophia: She'd out pester any pest; drive a hornet from it's nest
Agatha: She could throw a whirling dervish out of whirl
Margaretta: She is gentle; she is wild
Catherine: She's a riddle; she's a child
Berthe: She's a headache
Margaretta: She's an angel
R. Mother: She's a girl...
All: How do you solve a problem like Maria
How do you catch a cloud and pin it down
How do you find the word that means Maria
Catherine: A flibbertigibbet
Margaretta & Sophia: A will-o'-the-wisp
Berthe: A clown
All: Many a thing you know you'd like to tell her
Many a thing she ought to understand
R. Mother: But how do you make her stay
Berthe: And listen to all you say
Margaretta: How do you keep a wave upon the sand
All: Oh how do you solve a problem like Maria...
How do you hold a moonbeam in your hand

I Have Confidence [ midi | print]
What will this day be like, I wonder
What will my future be, I wonder...
It could be so exciting
To be out in the world to be free
My heart should be wildly rejoicing
Oh what's the matter with me
I've always longed for adventure
To do the things I never dared
Now here I am facing adventure
Then why am I so scared
Captain with seven children...
What so fearsome about that
Oh I must stop these doubts all these worries
If I don't I just know I'll turn back
I must dream of the things I am seeking
I am seeking the courage I lack
The courage to serve them with reliance
Face my mistakes without defiance
Show them I'm worthy
And while I'll show them...I'll show me...so...
Let them bring on all their problems
I'll do better than my best
I have confidence they'll put me to the test
But I'll make them see I have confidence in me
Somehow I will impress them
I will be firm but kind
And all those children, heaven bless them
They will look up to me and mind me
With each step I am more certain
Everything will turn out fine
I have confidence the world can all be mine
They'll have to agree I have confidence in me
I have confidence in sunshine
I have confidence in rain
I have confidence that spring will come again
Besides which you see I have confidence in me
Strength doesn't lie in numbers
Strength doesn't lie in wealth
Strength lies in nights of peaceful slumbers
When you wake up, wake up!
It tells me all I trust I leave my heart to
All I trust becomes my own
I have confidence in confidence alone...
I have confidence in confidence alone!
Besides which you see I have confidence in me...

For fate to turn the light on
Your life little girl is an empty page
That men will want to write on

Better beware, be canny and careful, baby you're on the brink You are sixteen going on seventeen, fellows will fall in line Eager young lads, and roues and cads Will offer you food and wine Totally unprepared are you, to face a world of men Timid and shy and scared are you, of things beyond your ken You need someone older and wiser, telling you what to do I am seventeen going on eighteen, I'll take care of you
Liesl: I am sixteen going on seventeen, I know that I'm naive Fellows I meet may tell me I'm sweet, and willingly I believe I am sixteen going on seventeen, innocent as a rose Bachelor dandies, drinkers of brandies, what do I know of those Totally unprepared am I, to face a world of men Timid and shy and scared am I, of things beyond my ken I need someone older and wiser, telling me what to do You are seventeen going on eighteen, I'll depend on you
Second version: Maria & Liesl
Maria: You are sixteen going on seventeen Waiting for life to start Somebody kind who touches your mind Will suddenly touch your heart
Liesl: When that happens, after it happens Nothing is quite the same Somehow I know I'll jump up and go If ever he calls my name
Maria: Gone are your old ideas of life The old ideas grow dim Lo and behold you're someone's wife And you belong to him
You may think this kind of adventure Never may come to you Darling, sixteen going on seventeen Wait a year...
Liesl: I'll wait a year...
Maria: Just wait a year...
Maria and Liesl: Or two

My Favorite Things [ midi | print]
Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things
Cream colored ponies and crisp apple strudels
Door bells and sleigh bells
And schnitzel with noodles
Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings
These are a few of my favorite things
Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes
Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes
Silver white winter that melts into spring
These are a few of my favorite things
When the dog bites
When the bee stings
When I'm feeling sad
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don't feel...so bad

TRIVIA: The first musical number in the scene, "The Sound Of Music", was the final sequence shot in Europe before the cast and crew returned to Los Angeles. It was filmed late June and early July of 1964. Despite of the warm and sunny appearance, Julie Andrews notes that she was freezing running up that mountain over and over again. Plus, the downdraft of the jet helicopter nearly knock her off her feet. Ms. Andrews quotes: "They had to do this shot about ten times and finally I got so angry I yelled, that's enough!"
TRIVIA: Marni Nixon, who played as Sister Sophia, was Audrey Hepburn's singing voice when she did the movie My Fair Lady.
TRIVIA: As Julie walks through a brick archway on the "I Have Confidence" scene, you will notice the two Austrian peasant women pass behind her. The older woman was actually the real Maria Von Trapp!
