Welcome to Viet Nam Women's Forum Official Website!
VWF is a non-profit organization by and for the advancement of Vietnamese Women globally. We began in 1998 with the modest idea of serving as a virtual space for Vietnamese women to share our knowledge and concerns with each other across lines of professions, interests, thoughts and national borders. We have used VWF to openly discuss issues such as: Vietnamese women history, Viet Kieu activism, interracial relationships, smoking addiction, Viet Nam normalized trade agreement with the United States, Vietnamese adoptees, Vienamese diaspora communities in the USA, France, Canada, Australia and so on. VWF has also evolved into a support, informational and organizational network serving hundreds of women globally. We have helped dozens of women find employment, housing, grants and data. We have assisted women who would have otherwise worked in isolation come together on collaborative projects. For example, when there was a call to help over two hundred Vietnamese female export laborers stranded in American Samoa, a sizable number of our members stepped forward to help these women find the proper resources to fight for their rights. We have co-sponsored the International Refugee Immigrant Women's Network's annual conference where we brought together Southeast Asian women and girls to discuss their academic and social projects and concerns with other refugee/immigrant women from all over the world. Further more, seeing VWF’s dedication to young girls, former VWF officer, Ly-Huong Nguyen, took leadership and together with VWF and ApiForce, initiated EMpower, an all-girls leadership program promoting knowledge of Vietnamese and Vietnamese American history, culture and community building. As the group now consists of over 300 Vietnamese and non-Vietnamese members, we believed that there is a great potential for us to utilize our unique resources and expertise to assist those beyond our network. We hope to continue participating in cooperative activities in Vietnamese communities, and encouraging the unity of Vietnamese women and girls. VWF serves as a resource for them to advance their own development, and promote a clearer understanding of the cultural and social characteristics of Vietnamese women and girls. As a non-profit organization and virtual community, we envision growing to meet the needs of our members. We feel the success of VWF is partly due to its exclusive, women only membership. The supportive, comforting space we have created over the years is something we cherish and will maintain. However, we also want to share our resources with others outside of VWF. That is why we created this website. Please enjoy browsing this site and we hope to hear from you. Sincerely,
Kieu Linh Valverde
