Ann Writes- "About 10 years after graduation, a bio form came in the mail to be returned to George School. I began filling out name, address etc. Then I hit the hard part...degrees, publications and on and on. I tore up the form, tears streaming fown my face, feeling like a big loser. After one year at Penn State studying Elementary Education, I'd married a veteran who looked like a good candidate for a father to my much wanted children.. (Bill Clark and I broke up the first week of school) My parents divorced and I was determined to create a happy home. After two children, I discovered I'd married the wrong person and gave him walking papers. When my daughter was six months old and her brother was two, I met my present husband, Jim, where I went to work as a proofreader with him as my boss. We married a year and a half later and had a son who was born the day the new birth certificates came in the mail for the two children I'd brought to the marriage. Jim began a business at home as a publisher of technical manuals which I proofed, assembled and helped to deliver. In addition, I worked at various other jobs outside the home from time to time, the best being as actress for four years with a children's theater company which toured into schools. We retired to Chincoteague Island, VA seven years ago and are happily involved in many areas. For 30 years we've worked in community theater and also toured in a two person show. We helped to form a theater company here and worked hard at it for four years. But good help was hard to find and we needed to fold. We serve in our church (where I am currently Lay Leader), play tennis, still perform plays occassionally and have recently gotten into storytelling. I've written a children's book which Jim is illustrating and we plan to sell it mostly here on the island. I tried it out on the third grade class where I am guest reader and the liked it. A poetry book I self published seven years ago is still selling here. Our older son took over Jim's publishing business and expanded it. His daughter is finishing architecture school and his son is in college. Our daughter deftly manages the cafe at Neiman Marcus in King of Prussia, and our younger son is an award winning playwright who also teaches at Villanova.(one of his plays was inspired by our marriage an is not only very funny, but touching). His seven year old son goes to Abington Friends where we visited recently for Grandparent's Day. Jim and I were blesssed to have roles in one of our son's plays. I had the opportunity to play the same role for two different theaters. Last winter, I went to Far East Russia as a missionary...working in orphanages and carrying the message of recovery from alcoholism. I may not have college degrees, but my life experience has been invaluable. My personal recovery from the family disease of Alcoholism has given me purpose and a rewarding mission in life. When Jim married me I had two small children and an alcohol addiction. Years later, I asked him why he married me when I was such a mess. He replied, "You had potential." |

Jerry writes- "Lynn and I are retired and living in Millbrook, N.Y. (Millbrook is about 70 miles north of NYC and 15 minutes east of the Taconic Parkway - we are almost always here, and would love to hear from G 'Schoolers' heading upstate or looking for interesting antique shops). 845-677-9282 |
