SPEAKER'S PANEL
Len Funk, two Tour of Duties, fulfills another chapter tradition
by sharing his experiences with students at a local high school.
Members have shared their Tour of Duty with students from grade
school to college students.

VET CENTER SUPPORT

Len Ignatowski, (r), presents restaurant coupons and metro bus
tokens to Jerry Clark, Alexandria, Virginia Vet Center Team Leader.
The Center's staff distributes the coupons and bus tokens to needy
veterans. Since December 2003, the chapter has donated over $600 for
the purchase of meal coupons and bus tokens to the Vet Center.
WALLACE HONORED FOR 9/11 ACTIONS

Alan R. Wallace, chapter member, was presented the Dean K.
Phillips Memorial Award for Exceptional Community and Veteran Service
for his heroic actions at the Pentagon on the 9/11 attack. He was a
Federal fire fighter on duty at the Pentagon heliport, only yards
from the aircraft impact into the Pentagon. Immediately after the
attack, he initiated the first call for assistance and proceeded to
rescue military personnel and civilians from the burning Pentagon.
COMMUNITY SERVICE: VINCE KASPAR AWARDS

The Vince Kaspar Awards for Excellence in the Arts recognizes
local high school students for their poetry and art talents. The
winners share $700 in prize awards. The 8 year program is a joint
effort of the chapter and the Memorial Day Writers Project to honor
Vince Kaspar, a Vietnam veteran, chapter member, and a Project founder.
