'61 Baja Desert Runner
Howdy...

This is a 1961 baja that I stumbled on.  I picked up just about everything needed to do a bug-eye (narrow lights) conversion.... after the guy had my cash, he suggested that I buy his baja.

It's currently being brought up from Arizona.  Why is it there?  The guy had some tranny problems with it and swapped out the tranny/axle.  Dragged it the 1700 miles down to take it out... started it up -- OOPS No brakes.  Opened them up... no shoes in the drums.

He left the car for his sister to get fixed and use.  She never did.

The builder now focuses on monster truck building.

Seller says it's been sitting for 5+ years.  Down sides are that it needs rear brakes, fuel system clean out... and maybe paint (possibly faded).

Over the next few months, we'll strip a '65 to baja fodder.. put the parts onto a '61 for a RestoCal and figure out what's wrong with our 'glass MiniT Buggy.

Stay tuned,

Front End Side Bar/Cage
This is what you'll see in your rear view mirror... or the last thing you'll see chasing you down the street.

Notice it already has stone gards and full lighting.

I'm sure the cops will love this one.
Built like a bridge... the side suports are connected to the full-wrap class 5 roll cage.

(Tree Bars are to keep the trees from ripping the fenders off)
50 ragin hp
Baja Butt
If the front doesn't scare you maybe the back will.  My new router has exactly 1/18 the power of this car.

50 screaming horses filled with off road rage.
Now this is a hind end.  Lots of lift and some nasty gasses being thrown out.

The can on the stinger is to keep rain etc out of the exhaust system.
