My
Quarantine Tank
: Sand Substrate Test
This tank, was to test the viability of using sand as a substrate in
an aquarium
Material: |
Sydney Sand, purchased at Bunnings Warehouse
for $5.35 AU for 20Kg |
Results: |
Tank appears much nicer, with a more natural
feel to it.
The blue acara in the tank seems to enjoy it, by swallowing then spitting
sand for fun
The dirt accumulates at the top of the sand, so makes it easier to
clean (when you get the hang of vacumming sand) |
Conclusion: |
I recommend you give it a try, instead of
boring old gravel. Just be carful with your filter intake, Either
reposition it higher, or add a course sponge to the intake to prevent
sand from entering your filter. |
