Description

I have researched 24 common alternative therapies. They range from those which are on the edges of mainstream (e.g. hyperthermia) to some inching perhaps toward acceptance (e.g. antineoplastons) and all the way to the edge of the credible. I have chosen each therapy for at least one of the following reasons: because I think it may work; because many people are interested in it currently; because I think it is inadvisable for NHL, or because the literature mentions it as applicable for lymphoma. I don’t believe that the alternative community has a cure for low grade NHL (with the possible exception of Coley's toxins), any more than the mainstream one does. But some of the treatments seem potentially useful in minimizing the disease, in keeping us healthier longer, and surviving longer. While researching each modality, I developed an informal rating system. Here is how the rating system works:

Rating:

A = promising treatment that shows evidence that it can be useful for lymphoma (or in case of complementary treatments, evidence for the particular condition)

B = interesting, even promising, and some indirect research is available, but there is as yet no convincing evidence that this will work for lymphoma (or the condition in question)

C = maybe; some persuasive anecdotal reports exist, but no research or trials

D = I don’t think so; no persuasive evidence
