Jorge's story

Jorge got the info off my web site, tried it, and then wrote describing his amazing results. October 2004. (Jorge decided to use only h2o2, zinc cream and bag balm.)

Thank you very much for your article and added information regarding dyshidrosis eczema. I'm 63 years old and have been suffering from dyshidrosis for the past 12 years. I have tried several creams and ointments prescribed by dermatologists. The only one that helped quite a bit was a tar based ointment that I used at nights. It almost cleared up, but then it came back a little worse.

I tried your H2O2 treatment (3%) along with the zinc oxide treatment and udder cream. I use the H2O2 in the morning and at night. I applied the zinc oxide on my hand and before going to bed and put on a white cotton glove on. I use the udder cream several times during the day. In the morning, while on break at lunch time and in the evening.

It almost cleared up completely in about 10 days. It was amazing! But.... then it started coming back. And the problem is that each time it comes back it spreads more and becomes more intense. I am beginning to think that the skin starts developing a resistance to these treatments and then reoccurs. Like a "smart" disease!

I am going to try the 8% solution first to see if there is some improvement and I will let you know. Also, starting today, I will use the tar solution one night and switch to the zinc oxide solution the following night to see what happens. I also want to start soaking in saline solutions. I don't want to try too many things at once so I can better determine what treatment works better.

Anyway, thought you may want to know about what I'm doing. Thanks again for offering alternatives way of fighting this condition.

Well, I finally found a source for the 27% H2O2 solution and have been using it since Saturday night. I had a bad recurrence last week and I can already see significant improvement in just three days.

It burns and itches, but it's not too bad. Last night I only had just a few spots that turned white so it was not bad at all. I only get the blisters on my right hand. It started on the palm of my hand about the size of a nickel and, over the years, has been spreading to the three middle fingers.

Your information has been very helpful to me, especially since it brings some hope that maybe I can control this condition. Thanks again.

The treatment, so far, has been very successful. My hand has cleared up quite a bit, to the point that it is not very noticeable, especially after I put on some of the creams I'm using.

I get lots of tiny white spots when I use the H2O2 at night, before going to bed. I also put on some of the diaper rash cream. I would be more than satisfied if I can maintain it the way it is now and I don't mind having to apply the H2O2 every night. By the way, it now itches like mad! Not too bad when I first started, but now I have to put my hand in hot water to stop the itching and burning sensation. What does the flax seed oil do for you?

Well, I'm almost past the "mosaic stage" as you call it. [The dry, crackly stage.]

This is the best my hand has been in over 12 years, so I know the treatment works and works rather quickly.

The tiny white spots pop up with each application of the H2O2, with fewer white spots each time. I put on the diaper rash cream before going to bed. The following morning, I can just rub my hand on a hand towel after I wash them and most of the tiny spots peel off right away leaving the skin clear and smooth.

I have been taking fish oil pills (one each meal) for a couple of years as recommended by my doctor for other reasons. I think I will wait on the flax oil and maybe use if I notice any recurrence. I just want to try a few things at a time so I'll know what works and what does not work. The only thing I'm using besides the H2O2 and the diaper rash cream is the udder cream during the day if I notice dryness on my hand.

As you can see, I think things are going very well for me, mostly thanks to your suggestions. I can't thank you enough!

Thanks,

Jorge

P.S.: I had been treated by several dermatologists. One thought it was a fungus, gave me some medicine, it cleared things up and returned later on worse. Another one called it some type of psoriasis and gave me some creams that did not work. My last dermatologist was "trying" different things. I then told her (Korean lady doctor) I wanted to know exactly what I had. She recommended we perform a biopsy of the skin. So she took a plug (literally) out of the palm of my hand, sent it to Duke University and the verdict came out to be dyshidrosis. That's when she recommended the tar based solution which helps a lot but it's rather messy, smelly, etc. and the condition never really clears up as it has done with the H2O2.

I have an appointment coming up for removal of some moles, so she is going to be surprised when I show her my hand and how I got them to heal so well. I will let you know how that goes.

December 2004: Jorge reports he is still doing very well.
This just in: December 2006 update

Hi Vera,

It's been a long time since we have communicated.

Yes, I told my dermatologist about using the oxygenated solution. Her remark was that that treatment was very aggressive and she would not recommend it. However, if it worked for me that I should go ahead and continue doing what I was doing. Should anything develop that I would not be happy with, then I should return to her. That's what I've been doing.

Basically, when the small blisters start showing up on my right hand, I start using the oxygenated water and it takes about a couple of days to dry them up where it is no longer uncomfortable. I Use Carmol 40 on my elbows every morning to control the psoriasis and also use it on my hand. That dries up the skin. On my way to work, I use an over-the-counter cream for my hand and that returns the lost moisture and "hides" the dry spots (white, flaky dry skin) on my hand to the point that I don't feel self-conscious while working, shaking hands, etc.

The blisters come back about every two or three weeks. Still, only on my right hand. My left hand is perfectly well. My dermatologist cannot explain that, so it is still a mystery.

Anyway, the oxygenated solution works for me in that I can keep things in control even though the condition has not been cured. So, that's 1000% improvement over what I was going through before I read your comments on the web.

Thanks again! Jorge
