I met Stephanie when I went looking for an eczema book at nearby library. She is the library’s director, and happened to be by when I could not find the book on the shelf. She told me it had to be there since she had just returned it. So we began to talk eczema, and it turned out she also has dyshidrosis. She showed me her hands, badly broken up in places, and a spot on her foot that was also showing damage. I mentioned my h2o2 experience and went on my way. (The book turned out to be a complete disappointment!)
A few days later, being in the area, I dropped off a bottle of 7.5% h2o2, so she could try it. She showed me her foot which had gotten worse: there was a raw patch the size of almost a quarter where the skin was completely gone. Then, I did not hear for a few weeks. One day I stopped by, and when Stephanie saw me, she said she’d been trying to call me all day to tell me the news.
She said: “When I saw you last, I had just been to a dermatologist who prescribed two creams and I spent about $37 on them. I was going on vacation, and I wanted to give them a try. They did nothing. So when I came back, I decided to give the h2o2 a try. Look at my hands and feet!” I did look, and they were all healed over. Not normal yet, but she said they no longer itched or hurt, and the skin was whole. And Stephanie said that apart from the initial sting, she did not experience much discomfort from the treatment. She was thrilled, and so was I.
By the way, Stephanie told me she was very concerned that her prolonged use of strong steroids really damaged her hands and made them look old beyond her years. So she decided to follow the h2o2 treatment with only the zinc cream. It worked well that way too.
Her story can be verified by anyone who cares to check. Just drop me a note.
