Several recent studies have focused on identifying the patients with MALToma who also have a hepatitis C infection. The results reported range from none to about 50%. It may be a good idea for patients to request this test. Interestingly, the current treatment for HCV is interferon, the same cytokine that has been used successfully against certain localized MALTomas. Additional drugs are in testing stages.
