How Paranormal Abilities Occurred.

The ancient gods were more than myths and legends...they were real. They arrived to our world via a dimensional rift, exiles from their own. Outcasts, from a world where what we consider to be paranormal powers were the norm. They were gods in our world, bigger than life and more powerful than even the strongest humans. They began to breed with their followers, mixing our genetic stock with theirs, and forever changing the evolution of the human species. The crossbreeds were weaker than their parents, and each generation further diluted the extremely recessive paranormal genes. But flukes have occurred throughout history, accounting for geniuses such as di Vinci, and Mozart, as well as "witches", "giants" and "monsters". Eventually the gods died out, or left our world, except for a handful left behind.

Modern pollution, population explosions, and human tinkering are now causing paranormals to appear in greater and greater numbers. Each new generation is stronger than the one before it. Many of these paranormals have mental imbalances, giving rise to megalomania, paranoia, extreme aggressiveness, and others psychoses.

Modern History

1930 - 1945

German scientists, scouring the world for ancient artifacts that Hitler felt might help him control the world, release Seth from his ancient, sandy prison in northern Egypt. Horus appears at the Allied Command in England, and reveals the history of the old gods, and how Seth had been imprisoned long ago. Horus stayed behind when the old gods left this world, and placed himself in stasis to guard against the eventual return of Seth. When Seth was released by the Germans, so was Horus from his hidden compartment in the Sphinx. Seth fights for the Germans, then double-crosses Hitler when the war starts going poorly, killing him in his underground bunker in Berlin.

Based on knowledge shared with them by Seth and Horus, each side was able to secretly produce "super soldiers." Neither Old One was happy with this, and destroyed the labs when they were discovered. But the genie was already out of the bottle...notes survived, as did some of the men.

Horus was killed fighting Seth in Syria. Seth, terribly wounded, disappeared, leaving his armies to their fates. The Allies won W.W.II.

1945 - 1955

• The Cold War begins, and the world polarizes between the US and the USSR
• Both sides continue research into paranormals in order to gain an upper hand on the other
• Seth surfaces in Egypt, and takes control of the government there by murdering the president and prime minister.

1955 - 1975

• Egypt closes it borders, and essentially becomes an informational black hole for 10 years. When the borders reopen, the world discovers that Seth is alive and well, and is once again worshipped as a god in Egypt by many.
• Appearance of crime-fighting costumed vigilantes in the US
• Use of military paranormals in Korea and Vietnam · Amazing advances in science and technology
• Civil unrest in the US and many portions of the world
• US beats Russia to the moon
• Cold War is ongoing
• Paranormals take over the Mafia

1975 - 1998 (Present)

• Law enforcement is slowly losing ground against paranormal criminals
• Liberty Station put in orbit by the US · Moonbase Tranquillity established
• US government creates PRIMUS agency, to fight paranormal crime
• Paranormal criminals become much more organized, consolidating their power
• President Clinton proposes the creation of a Paranormal Strike Team, to work with PRIMUS against the rising tide of paranormal crime sweeping the nation.
