Summary - Game 6

21 May 2000

After calling in the attack on Wario to the team, Angie spots the Thompson Delivery truck cruise by, which she has seen before coming out of the alleyway portal she's been watching for the past week.  She gives chase, eventually catching up to it and hopping onto the bumper before it heads up onto the highway.  Sure enough, it's heading for the portal.

She contacts the base, letting them know what she's up to, and continues to ride the small truck (after having climbed stealthily to the top of it) through the portal.   It emerges from mid-central Chicago into a steaming tropical jungle.  It's dusk here, and she quickly notes the landmarks.  The truck heads a few miles down the road and stops at a gated compound with guard shack.  The trees have been cleared back 100 feet from the tall wrought-iron fence. As the truck pulls up, a guard comes out of a small building to meet it, and she dives off the opposite side and hides.

Back in Chicago, Wraith lies in the team Infirmery at HQ, recuperating from Bone Breaker having thrown a car at her during the dance club fight.

Cyrus goes home to his apartment, and is surprised to find the Gnome King there. The King, who has a fondness for spicy Chinese food and cold Chinese beer, warns Cyrus that omens back in his dimension are pointing to a rise in dark powers throughout the various planes of existance.

22 May 2000

She spends a miserable night filled with a tropical rainstorm, strange jungle noises, and nightmares of her past. After snooping around the prior night and early morning, she discovers that the fenced property is about 800' square. A mansion/plantation sits in the middle on a slight hill. There are several barracks-like buildings, a few duece-and-a-half trucks near it. She also spotted a helipad with a jet copter sitting on it. Tall sensor/light towers are spaced just within the perimeter of the fence, every 100'. Behind the compound she found a coffee farm.

The delivery truck was reloaded in the morning, and as it drove past the jungle on it's way out, she caught another ride on it. But when she hopped off when it stopped to open the portal, she got spotted. (Nor was she able to identify how the portal was opened...just that the driver did something with his hand, a light appeared, and then the portal). Angie runs for the portal, as the driver hops out of the cab and opens fire on her with a pistol. She runs down the alley, and looking back sees the driver get into the cab, pause, then guns the truck after her.

She ducks around the corner at the mouth of the ally, and the truck comes barrelling around, the man riding shotgun aiming a machine pistol at her. Angie lets rip with a huge blast of electricity, literally frying the man in his own juices as his gun goes off wildly, spraying bullets about her. She blasts again, sending a surge of power into the electric truck, causing it's motor to over-rev and leap out of control. It careems off the buildings on the other side of the street (narrowly missing her part-time employer, Mr. Fergusson). She finishes it off with another surge, and it crashes.

The driver, "Juan Smith", has a driver's license stating he's a resident of Chicago. He tells Angie that he can't speak English, but does manage to wet himself thoroughly when she threatens to fry him with a handful of electricty arcing between her fingers. She then calls in Archangel and Liberty Belle, who arrive in the jet. Arch picks up a sample of the drugs that have fallen out the back, while Belle talks to the man in Spanish...he refuses to speak without his lawyer. Cpl Mark Goslin and his partner arrive, take the man and drugs into custody, and Angie goes to the station to make a report.

That night, the police scanner picks up a call from the Mercy Hospital, where Titan had taken two zombie drug victims for observation. Titan heads there, and finds that they were being given a transfusion by Dr. Howard and a nurse, when they suddenly became ferocious, broke free of their restrants, and killed the doctor and nurse, eating parts of their bodies. Afterwards, they ripped the door from it's henges and bounded out of the hospital, upsetting patients and staff.

Titan checks on his girlfriend Jessica, who is recuperating from injuries sustained during the killer tornado. She's ok, but urges him to re-capture the zombies.

Calls next come in that a large number of zombies stumbled out of an alley near a tornado relief encampment, and set upon the people camped there. A massacre occured, and the zombies seemed to gain strength as they feasted upon human flesh. Several of their victims were found semi-mummified. The team flies in aboard their VTOL jet. Cyrus can see that a huge amount of magical energy was released here, especially around the mummified victims. Belle and Archangel stay with the survivors, while the rest of the team follow after the zombies, who had crossed the tornado-scoured area to the west. Cyrus can follow the faint trail of magic left by them, and it stops at a ripped up manhole cover. (Which has been crumbled like an aluminum can...there is zombie flesh caught in the handprint). The team drops down into the storm drain tunnels, but loses the trail when the zombies ducked under water and up a side passage. Titan tried to follow, but couldn't hold his breath long enough. The zombies were headed NW, however.

Reports are coming in from all over the city about zombie attacks. In NW Chicago, in a wealthy neighborhood, a call to police comes in that a group of 6-11 zombies are heading down the street. Titan recalls that this is the same neighborhood that the Carlotti mafia family lives in. They scramble, and find nine zombies and an eerily green glowing skeleton with dreadlocks on the lawn, headed for the Carlotti mansion. Atop the carport stands a figure whose face is shrowded in dark mist. It's a very powerful presence, wearing dark tattered cloaks, and carrying a long staff topped with a human skull. The figure looks at Cyrus as he flies up, bows deeply, and disappears.

A fight ensues as the skeleton waves his zombie followers forward, ordering them to kill every living thing in the house. The team, accompanied by Belle and Archangel, give chase, and stop them. But not before they kill two of the remaining Carlotti henchmen and a cook. Old Dame Carlotti, mother of the convicted mob boss, tries to shoot at Titan, but before she can, Cyrus seals her up in a forcewall. (She apparently has a grudge against Titan for putting her son and nephews and their associates in jail. Go figure!).

The zombie is apparently Dexter Jackson, who is now calling himself "Mr. Bones". Titan and Speed Demon discover the power of coordinated attacks, and take down Bones, and the rest of the zombies. Speed examines Bones, and discovers that there is a thin bone-hugging skin covering the skeletal structure.

The team captures Mr. Bones, and a zombie, and takes them back to HQ for examination. During the fight, a female zombie was knocked back to normalcy. The woman began screaming when she saw what had become of her arms (rotted flesh hanging from them). Perhaps fortunately, another zombie killed her rather quickly.

Cyrus waited around as the PRIMUS Guardians arrived. Blackspell informed him that they had been fighting zombies all over town, but not a concentrated group like this. 26 reported instances of zombie attacks had occurred at the time of their talk. PRIMUS left, and the cops arrived and sealed the area. Cyrus left at this point.
