With Jetrin's music video "Kong Wai" (Leave it
there), this sparkling English-Thai girl had
made her debut into the showbiz since the age
of 13. Then brilliant prospects ensued: she posed for
magazines and did some commercials, which got her
into the spotlight. She played the lead in a Five Starts
Entertainment production "A-neung Kid Tung Por
Sung-Kheb." Catleeya also starred in Tik Chiro's music
video "Ror Rub Dai Leuy" (Just wait to Get it), and then
co-starred with him in a film "Cherm-Cherm Leaw Kor
Chum".
While soap operas were gaining popularity on
Thai TV, Cathleeya got the chance to
demonstrate her acting skills in some of them.
She took the leading role in "Koon Ying Jom Kaen"
(The Mischievous Lady), "Sa-kao Deun", "Num Sai Jai
Jring" (The Goodness of the Heart), "Kao Pleuk" (The
Grains) and "Saluk Jit." Apart from being an actress,
she is hostess and singer. Nine years in the
entertainment had molded her into a
highly-skill teen idol.
We got a chance to visit her new home in Soi
Ramkumhaeng 11, and peek into her
cream-colored bedroom.
“I don’t know the exact size of this room. My
Mom did most of the decoration because it was
her who saw to the decoration of the house. As
for my bedroom, there’s nothing I can do, as
everything had been planned beforehand. The bed
cannot be moved. If we move it, the head of the bed
will fall on the direction of the West, which is
inauspicious. Doors are on the other two sides of the
walls, so I believe my bed is in the best direction.
About the decoration style, I don’t think it’s
magnificent; it’s just plain and simple. It has always
been my dream to have a large house of my own, to
which we could add more furniture, and which has
everything I want, such as a swimming pool, a
basement, a fitness room. What we now have
is rather common.”
As for the bed, “it is a large wooden bed,
bought by my Mom. I guess the mattress is
made of coconut fiber because it is so hard.
Once a friend of came to sleep over and happened to
jump on it. She choked.”
“I sleep on one pillow, but I can’t do without a
bolster. If I have to spend the night at a hotel in
the upcountry, I will ask for a pillow to
substitute a bolster. I like soft pillows. Pillows in
England are so soft and fluffy that once you lie on it
your head would sink deep into the pillow. My bed
linen has flowery patterns to match the pink curtain, so
the linen must be in blue or gray. There is also a
pinkish inner bed sheet, bought by my Mom, We don’t
buy these bedding from a particular store; we buy it
from any mall.”
As for sleeping posture, Catleeya loves to lie on one
side, holding a bolster. Regarding her sleeping time,
she replied, “Oh, I got little sleep, sometimes 4 hours
per night, sometimes as little as 3. Normally, 7 hours
will do. Anyway, I once slept a whole day through. I
didn’t know why - I just went to bed at 5 p.m. and woke
up at the same time of the next day! But I didn’t realize
that; I thought it was 5 a.m. When I went downstairs,
my Mom asked, “wake up at last?” and I replied, “Of
course, it’s already 5 o’clock in the morning.” Then she
laughingly said, “it’s 5 o’clock in the evening, dear.”
We got a good laugh, for I slept round-the-clock,
without any meal at all.”
“I sometimes suffer from sleeplessness, especially
when I came back from England. Jet lag, you know. If
the problem persists, I will have some milk and ripe
mango - my Mom’s technique - and it always works!
Now that the fruit is rare, and milk is fattening, I watch
a movie instead. After a short while I will slip off to
sleep. Sometimes I read, but if I find it interesting, I will
read on until I finish the book. So reading can prevent
me from sleeping.”
About her bedclothes, “it changes
all the time. I used to wear big
T-shirts (some of which belong to
my Dad, who is a very big man),
and pants of any kind. Once I
loved to put on a vest and shorts,
but now I wear light-colored
pyjamas; I will never wear red
because it gives me a nightmare.
I mean, I had a nightmare once
when I wore red. For my pyjamas,
I bought them myself, or sometimes my Mom bought
them for me.”
