Stars serve up festive treat
Teeny-boppers out in force at top-name show
BY: JITTANAN KOMOLKUL
The absence of RS Promotion's mega star, Dome Pakorn Lum, (probably due to a recent road accident) was sad, but the audience was still well served at the "RS Meeting Concert: Star Mission Out of This World" on December 22.
A total of 28 stars graced the stage, generating loud screams for almost two hours straight.
The stars, from both the older and new generation, included Touch Na Takuatoong, Somchai Khemklad, Korrapin Puangpo and D2B. Given all those teenage hearthrobs present on the same stage, the crowd was mostly girls under the age of 18. Many of them no doubt have posters of all the RS stars' covering every inch of their bedroom walls.
The most impressive part of this concert was the crazy dance sequences. You just had to applaud when the songs were over and you could see how hard everyone had practiced. You could even hear them panting!
The evening began with 20 dancers hopping and bopping under a white `ocean' made of cloth. Firecrackers announced the appearance of four wonder girls; Napasorn Buranasiri (Momay); Lakana Huangmaneerungroj (Aon); Debbie See and Diana Rand. The foursome danced feverishly while lipsynching to Prakodkarn (Phenomenon).
When they left the stage, a VTR came up in the form of a news report, telling the audience members that they had made the headlines by gathering at the Indoor Stadium Huamark. It was supposed to be funny but it didn't work that well.
Then it was the boys's turn. Touch, JR Kittikulwong, Somchai and << Joni Anwar>> strutted out, crooning Yum Trawane Ratri (Travel Through The Night). Ear-splitting screams accompanied them, of course.
The audience went wild dancing with Sirirot Siricharoen (Arm) during the song Long Kunh, Oh Yeah (Chip In). Natalie Davies and Jariya Jazky Sarahashworth came on stage fighting off the smoke produced by fake cops and fake guns amidst an array of siren lights. The duo performed Chuea Morh Kor Puk Chuea Ruk Kor Pai (Rest, Listen To The Doctor. Go, Trust Your Heart).
Sornram Theppitak came out for a solo performance in Duek Leaw (It's Late) and his buddy Somchai joined for the rap part. After the song, the couple exchanged spicy words for a while, which got a bit long-winded.
Louis Scott, dressed as if he was a part of the Men in Black squad, sang Raya Poa Kon (At Close Range).
Vitamin A, RS's dancing king, chose to perform Anan Anwar's three tracks, Da Da Da, Len Arai Mai Roo Bah (Playing Crazily) and Talueng (Shocked). He was quite successful at getting the crowd worked up.
Then all 28 stars took turns appearing on stage. Some jammed with each other. Toward the end of the show, Anan, possibly the youngest member of the bunch, appeared as a little Santa Claus, bringing a huge gift package. The audience wasn't kept wondering for long before the newest RS group burst out from the box.
It was D2B, who charmed viewers with their smashing good looks and introduced the audience to the brand new single Tor Nah Chun Ther Tum Yang Nun Dai Yang Rai (How Could You Do That Right In My Face?)
Ruangsak Loychusak (James) surprised everyone by doing a few magic tricks after singing Kum Wa Puen (The Word "Friend"). The show ended traditionally with all the stars singing Jon Kwa JA Pob Kub Mai (Till We Meet Again). Well, we'll surely meet them again, at least on TV and radio stations.
