Tata's Comeback

She was only sweet 14 years old when she youthfully stepped into the limelight of fame and swept us off our feet almost instantaneously.

Amita "Tata" Young quickly became Thailand's foremost girl singer icon in the mid '90s, which soon earned her the nickname "Amazing Tata" by an enthusiastic crowd of followers who founded fan clubs all over the place.

But suddenly, and almost as rapidly as she had ascended to superstar status, her popularity dipped for reasons that have remained obscure until today, although rumors abounded.

However, maintaining a pretty low profile for several years, Tata, now matured into a young woman, has decided to try reviving her sparkling star by hooking up with BEC-Tero Entertainment.
Having adopted a rather sexy image donning sizzling mini skirts and revealing tops together with her trademark "schoolgirl" haircut, she has just released her comeback album, "Tata Young."

The outing's title strongly reminds one of her debut album back then, which was simply called "Tata," and the quasi-similarity might be intended to work as a kind of lucky charm.

Whether the lass will succeed to re-launch her career largely depends on both her old and future fans, many of whom are rather sceptical.

"I used to be a huge Tata fan and have already bought her comeback album, but it lacks those smashy pop songs for which she was so famous," said a 24-year-old bank employee.

"I liked her because she was so cute and brought a fresh breeze into the pop scene. Now she's grown up and has somehow lost that unique cuteness," commented Sukanya, an 18-year-old sales girl at a Bangkok department store.

Well, even though initial reactions to Miss Young's return appear to be quite lukewarm, she does have the advantage of enjoying the professional back-up of an expert marketing company like BEC-Tero. Good luck, Tata!
