Chapter Nine

Trinity

Two days later…

I was sitting in a chair next to Wade’s bed staring out the window. I had been in the same position for the past three days, even though it felt like three years. Wade’s mother and siblings flew in from California yesterday. Everyone wanted me to go home and get some rest, but I refused to leave the hospital. I wanted to be there when Wade woke up. I turned from the window and looked over at Wade. His face had scratches on it and his arms were badly bruised. I took his hand in mine and held it.

“Hi sweetie. It’s been three days now and you’ve proven your point. I was wrong. It’s time to wake up now okay? Look, I’m really sorry about what happened the other day, I shouldn’t have gotten so angry with you.” I said to him.

Then the tears began to fall from my eyes.

“I love you so much. I don’t care if you direct two million tours this year. Please just wake up.” I said squeezing his hand and lying my head down on the bed. “Please wake up, please wake up.”

Then I felt him squeeze my hand back.

I slowly lifted my head off the bed.

“Wade?” I asked.

No response.

“Can you hear me?” I asked again.

No response.

“If you can hear me squeeze my hand.” I said.

Suddenly I felt Wade’s hand tighten around mine. I began to smile as Wade’s eyes opened.

“Trinity?” he asked.

I nodded and began crying again.

“What’s wrong sweetie?” he asked.

“You’re awake. Oh Wade I’m so sorry about yelling at you the other day.” I said throwing my arms around him and crying even harder.

“Trin, calm down.” He said. “I’m not mad at you. Can you explain what’s going on?”

I sat down and tried to breath normally again.

“The other day we had a fight.” I began.

‘Yeah, I remember.” He said.

“And you left and a few hours later I got a call that you had been in an accident.” I told him.

Wade nodded.

“So Alyssa and I got here and you were unconscious. You’ve been unconscious for three days.” I finished.

Wade smiled. “Guess I scared everyone huh?”

“If you weren’t hurt I’d hit you. Of course you scared everyone.” I said. “Your Mom, sister, and brother are here.”

Wade nodded. “I remember what happened. I left your place and drove home. Then I did some rearranging so I could leave on Wednesday. I was on my way back to your house to tell you and it started raining. Then the car skidded and swerved and I don’t remember after that.”

“You mean you got in the accident on your way to see me? Oh God.” I said.

Wade grabbed my arms. “It’s not your fault Trin. You can’t blame yourself okay?”

I nodded. “Sorry I got all bent out of shape the other day.”

“Sorry I made you feel like I didn’t care about you.” He replied.

“Sorry I wasn’t being very understanding.” I said.

“Ugh. Someone hand me a barf bag.” Alyssa said walking into the room with Justin behind her.

I laughed. “I guess we do sound kind of gross.”

Justin rolled his eyes. “Kind of?”

“Where’s everyone else?” Wade asked.

“Right here.” JC said entering the room followed by Hannah, Joey, Lance, Chris, and Wade’s family.

“You gave us quite a scare there Wade-dawg.” Justin said.

“Well don’t worry.” Wade said looking over at me. “You’re stuck with me for a long time.”

Two weeks later…

“Where’s my bag?” Alyssa called out.

“Next to your jacket.” I replied.

“Which is?” she asked.

“On the coat rack.” Wade said.

“Trinity! Get up here.” Alyssa shouted.

I slid off the couch and ran upstairs.

“What’s up?” I asked walking in her room.

“Does this look okay for the show?” she asked me.

“Don’t you mean does it look okay for Justin?” I teased.

“Seriously Trinity.” Alyssa said.

“Alyssa…” I said.

“Fine! I do care what he thinks of it.” She replied.

“Alyssa it’s okay. I think you should tell Justin how you feel.” I said.

“Why? I don’t even know how I feel.” Alyssa replied.

“If there’s one thing I learned recently it’s that life is short. Justin’s crazy about you so I wouldn’t worry about rejection.” I said.

“Yeah, well it’s easier said than done.” Alyssa said. “I’d better go.”

I nodded. “Wade and I will be there later.”

“Okay.” She said. “Bye aWade.”

“See ya later Alyssa.” Wade called.

I sat back down on the couch next to him.

“So is she going to tell him?” Wade asked playing with the ends of my hair.

“I sure hope so.” I replied. “I think she’s killing Justin.”

“I remember when you told me you liked me.” Wade said.

“Me too. I remember waiting for you to say something but I figured that might take centuries so I had to be assertive.” I told him.

Wade shrugged. “I would have gotten the nerve.”

I rolled my eyes. “And Justin looks good in gold la`me pants.”

“What?” Wade asked.
