Chapter Six

“So I’ll be back on Sunday night.” Wade said to Tawny.

Tawny nodded. “Okay.”

“I’ll miss you.” He said wrapping his arms around her.

Tawny swallowed hard. “I’ll miss you too.”

“I’ll be back before you know it.” He told her.

She nodded. “I love you.”

“I love you too.” He said kissing her. “Bye.”

“Bye.” She replied as he headed to the waiting taxi.

Tawny sighed. As many times as he went away saying good-bye didn’t get any easier.

Later that day……

“How about ‘That’s Where You Take Me’?” Tawny suggested.

Emma looked like she was about to throw up. “You’re kidding right?!”

Tawny suppressed her urge to laugh. “No, it’s a good song.”

“There will be absolutely no Britney Spears’ songs at my wedding.” Emma said throwing a pillow at Tawny.

Emma had come over to Tawny’s house asking for help picking out a song list for the wedding.

“Seriously now. How about ‘This I Promise You’?” Tawny asked.

“No way.” She said shaking her head vigorously. “Besides the fact that I can’t stand that song, it would be way too weird.”

“I suppose.” Tawny said as she continued flipping through Emma’s CD collection.

“What time is it?” Emma asked.

“10:00.” Tawny said.

“Turn on MTV.” She told her.

“Okay.” Tawny replied grabbing the remote. “Why?”

“There’s a special on….what’s going on?” Emma asked.

Tawny turned her head and looked at the television. There was a special news report on.

“It looks like a plane crash or something.”

“Turn up the volume.” Emma said.

Tawny raised the volume. “It has been reported that flight 755 non-stop from Orlando to Los Angeles has crashed over Nevada.”

Tawny’s face turned white. “What?”

“That wasn’t….was it?” Emma asked.

Tawny nodded too stunned to speak. This wasn’t happening.

“It appears there are no survivors.”

Suddenly Tawny’s world went black.
