Chapter Six
Lorelai woke with a start.
“Not again.” She mumbled.
Lorelai was having that dream again where Jacob Underwood chases her through the streets of Orlando singing ‘Baby I Would.’
Now she couldn’t get the stupid song out of her head. It was very eerie. She looked over at her stereo to see if she left it on. No, the stereo was off. She got up and walked over to the window and to her surprise Justin was standing there.
“What in the world?” she asked, but he continued singing. Lorelai walked down the stairs and headed outside.
“What are you doing? Get inside! It’s freezing out here and you don’t have your coat on!” she told him.
He followed her into the house.
“Explain yourself.” She said.
“Lorelai, I’m really sorry about earlier today. I was being a jerk.” He said.
Lorelai was silent for a moment.
“You forgive me, right?” he asked.
“You really hurt my feelings.” She said quietly.
Justin immediately pulled her into his arms. “Sweetie, I truly am sorry. God, you have no idea how badly I wish I could take back everything I said.”
Lorelai remained silent.
“Baby? Say something.” Justin said.
Lorelai took a deep breath, he was making it really hard to stay mad. “I know you’re sorry. I forgive you.”
“Thank you.” He told her. “I’ll never let you down again.”
“Yeah, and you better not ever sing O-Town again, that was truly terrifying.” She said.
Justin laughed. “Good deal. Why don’t we seal the deal with a kiss.”
“Fine with me.” She replied.
Early that morning…
The phone rang sharply in Lorelai’s ear. She groaned loudly having no desire to get up and answer it.
“Justin, get the phone.” She mumbled poking his side.
She heard him mumble something as the phone continued ringing.
“Justin.” She said again.
“Why do I have to answer it?” he asked half-asleep.
“You’re closer.” She told him.
“Fine. Hello? Yeah, hang on.” He said handing her the phone. “It’s Adrienne.”
“Hey Adrienne. What’s up?” Lorelai asked.
“Hi, sorry I didn’t mean to wake you guys up. Wait! What the hell is Justin doing answering your phone?” Adrienne asked.
“He was closer to the nightstand.” Lorelai explained.
“Oh, I see. Hold up! He’s in your bed?! Oh my God Lorelai. You…oh man…you…oh really bad visual…” Adrienne sputtered.
“If you’re trying to ask if I look different from last night, the answer is no.” Lorelai said laughing.
“Oh, yeah, well I figured. Anyway, I was just wondering if you were up to clubbing tonight. Kind of a last outing before the tour.” She said.
“Sounds good to me. What time?” Lorelai asked.
“10:30-ish?” she suggested.
“Okay, see you tonight.” She said hanging up.
Later that night…
“Let’s get this party started!” Joey screamed as they entered the club.
“Remind me again why I agreed to this?” Justin shouted over the loud music.
“Because it’s high time we all got out and let off some steam.” Lorelai told him.
“Let’s find a place to sit.” Adrienne suggested.
“How about over there?” JC said pointing to a table in the corner.
“Looks good to me.” Lance said as they headed over to the table.
“Shall we?” Justin asked Lorelai.
“Let’s do it.” Lorelai replied following him onto the dance floor.
Adrienne, Lance, Caitlin, and JC followed while Joey mingled and Chris went to get something to drink. Wade just sat at the table.
“Why isn’t Wade out here?” Lorelai asked.
Justin shrugged. “I’m not sure.”
“You’d think he’d be the first one out here.” She said sounding puzzled.
They all danced for awhile longer and then decided to get something to drink. It was getting really hot in the club so Lorelai decided to head outside. She noticed Wade outside as well.
“Hey Wade.” She said.
Wade jumped. “Oh, hey Lorelai.”
“Sorry, didn’t mean to scare you.” She said.
Wade smiled. “That’s okay.”
“Too hot in there for you?” she asked.
He nodded. “You looked good out there.”
Lorelai laughed. “Yeah, right. How come you weren’t out on the floor?”
Wade shrugged. “Just not in the mood.”
“Yeah, I guess if I danced everyday all day I probably wouldn’t be the first one to want to go clubbing.” Lorelai said.
Wade didn’t say anything.
“You okay?” she asked.
“What? Yeah, I’m fine.” He replied. “So excited about the tour?”
She shook her head vigorously. “I can’t wait…” she started, but stopped shortly as she dropped her bracelet.
“Shoot.” She said as she bent down to pick it up, just as Wade did and they bumped heads.
Lorelai laughed. “We’re good at injuring each other huh?”
Wade nodded. “I agree.” Then all of a sudden Wade leaned closer to Lorelai.
‘Oh my God, he’s going to kiss me.’ Lorelai thought.
She quickly turned her head away.
“I’d better go back in.” she said quickly getting up.
Wade smacked his forehead. “What did I just almost do?”
