Chapter Six

Dan gave Matt a confused look.

“Nothing bad. I told you Deanne wouldn’t care.”

“Then tell me.” Deanne said.

“I bumped into an old friend today.”

“That doesn’t sound so bad.”

“And he invited this person to the wedding.” Matt said.

Deanne shrugged.

“Half of Orlando’s coming anyway…what’s one more person?”

“Tell her who it is.” Josh said.

“I don’t understand why you guys think this is such a big deal. She won’t care. It’s Monica Craft.” Dan said.

“Who?” she asked.

“My ex-girlfriend. You remember…”

“Umm…sorry to rush off so fast guys but Dan and I have stuff to take care of. Come on Dan.” She said grabbing his arm and dragging him out of the house.

“Are you insane?!” Deanne asked when she and Dan arrived home.

Dan sighed…he decided he liked the silent treatment she was giving him in the car better.

“What’s the big deal? You don’t have a problem with any of my other female friends from home coming and I cool with your guy friends.” Dan said.

“That’s because those people are friends…not people we were once involved with!” Deanne exclaimed. “Just when I thought things were perfect.”

“Look Monica is bringing her fiancé with her. I think it’ll be okay.”

“That’s not the point. You should have talked to me.”

“Is something else bothering you?”

“Why?”

“Because you’ve met her.”

“I have?”

“Yes, we went out to dinner with her and her boyfriend…”

“Brian. She runs the art museum.”

“Right.”

“Oh God. I’m losing my mind.”

Dan pulled her towards him.

“Everything has been going so well lately that I’m just waiting for something to go wrong.” She mumbled into his shirt.

He rubbed her back.

“It’s alright sweetie. Everything is fine.”

“I’m sorry I got upset.”

“Don’t worry about it.” He said kissing the top of her head.
