Chapter Eight
Wedding Countdown: THIS IS IT!
Deanne fumbled and turned off the alarm next to the bed. She slowly rolled over and looked out the window. The sun was shining…it appeared to be a beautiful day. Suddenly Deanne shot up in bed. Today was the day of the wedding! She heard all sorts of noise coming from downstairs. The entire bridal party was gathering at the house that morning for preparations and pictures. Dan was at Matt and Jennifer’s house.
“Good morning sunshine!” Alexis said walking into Deanne’s room.
“Oh my! Who thought I’d see the day when Alexis was up before 10:00!” Deanne exclaimed.
“Well don’t get used to it. Come girlie…lots to do. Let’s get you moving!” Alexis said throwing the blankets off of Deanne.
“I’m moving, I’m moving!” Deanne said.

“I promise Ms. Hardy…I’ll just style your hair this time. No funny business.” Olivia, the beautician, said.
“Alright. Work your magic.” Deanne said.
Deanne closed her eyes as Olivia started on her hair. So far everything had been going well. Apparently the saying: anything that can go wrong will go wrong had been used up by all the mini-disasters before the wedding. From here on out everything was going to be perfect.
Just then Deanne’s cell phone rang.
“Hello.” She said.
“Hey baby.” Dan said.
“Dan! You know you’re not supposed to talk to me before the wedding.”
“I think I’m not supposed to see you.”
“Oh right. So what’s up?”
“Where are you?”
“Getting my hair done.”
“Are you going to dye it blue this time?”
“Dan! Seriously, why did you call?”
“Are you near a TV?”
Deanne looked around the salon and spotted a small TV.
“Yeah.”
“Turn on channel seven.”
“Can you turn on channel seven? Thanks. Why do I have to…You’re kidding me!” Deanne exclaimed.
On the television was a special news report. There was a huge fire…at the church Dan and Deanne were supposed to get married at.
“Calm down, sweetie. The guys and I are on top of this. We’ll find a place okay? Don’t freak out.” Dan said.
“K.” Deanne managed to squeak out.
“I’ll call you back when I know more. I love you.”
“Love you too.” She said turning off her phone.
Why was all this happening? Did the fates not want her to marry Dan or something?
Deanne sighed and leaned back in the chair.
