It Only Took A Minute
Chapter Eight

January 3, 2007

“Come on Allison…just a little farther.” Rick urged her.

Allison shook her head vigorously.

“I can’t.”

“Allison, come on…you’re almost there.” He told her.

“No, I can’t do it.” She replied.

“Please Allie…come on.” Justin pleaded with her.

Allison turned to look at Justin with tears in her eyes.

“No.”

“For me Allie…you can do it.” Justin said, his heart breaking half at the look on Allison’s face.

Very slowly Allie walked towards Justin using her cane for balance.

“Good Allie, just a bit more.” Justin said to her.

Allison nodded and continued moving forward until she was standing next to Justin.

“I did it.” She said looking up at him and smiling.

“You did it…I knew you could.” He said giving her a hug.

“That was great Allison. You’ll be back to your old self in no time.” Rick said. “Now I want you to go work with Elizabeth over there and you’ll be done for the day.”

“Okay, thanks Rick.” Allison said. “Come on Justin.”

“Bossy isn’t she.” Justin said to Rick.

“I’m not deaf you know.” She said wacking Justin’s leg with her cane.

“Ow…that thing is a lethal weapon in your hands.” He said rubbing his knee.

“Okay, do you have everything you need?” Justin asked as Allison made her self comfortable in her bed.

“Nope, I’m missing my memory…have you seen it?” she asked.

“Allie…” Justin warned.

“It’s been five months Justin.” Allison said.

“I know…believe me I know.” He told her.

Allison turned her head away from Justin.

“It’s hard for me…but I’m sure you could have figured that out.” She said quietly. “But you’ve never told me what it’s like for you.”

Justin sighed.

“That’s not important.”

She turned her attention back to Justin with tears slowly streaming down her face.

“Yes it is. Tell me. Don’t put up a front…I know you have been.”

Justin lifted his hand up to her face and wiped her tears away.

“I’m that lousy of an actor huh?”

“Well…Krista and I did watch ‘Model Behavior.’” She said with a laugh.

“Now that’s one thing I wouldn’t mind forgetting.” He said.

“Seriously Justin.” Allison said.

“What can I say…I’m just scared.” Justin told her.

“Scared of me?” she asked.

“Not of you. Just scared that you’ll never remember me or everything we’ve shared. I’m guess I’m scared you won’t love me anymore.” Justin explained.

Allison wanted to cry all over again.

“Please don’t cry Allie…look just forget what…” Justin started.

"No Justin, I wanted you to tell me. To tell you the truth those are the exact same things I’m afraid of. What I am scared of is that you’ll get tired of waiting for me to remember and find someone else. I can’t say I’d blame you.” She said.

“I’d never leave you. If you think some pesky little thing like amnesia is going to get rid of me you’d better think again.” He said taking her hand in his.

Allison laughed lacing her fingers through his.

“That’s comforting.”

“Besides, if don’t get your memory back…I’ll just have to make you fall in love with me all over again.” Justin teased.

Allison woke up with a start.

Where was she?

She slowly looked around the room and realized she was in the guest house. She turned and looked beside her and saw a sleeping Justin.

What was going on?

Allison poked Justin’s arm.

“Justin?”

“What sweetie?” he asked.

“Why are we sleeping in the guest house?”

“What do you mean why? You’ve been sleeping here for the past five months.”

“I have?” she asked confused.

Justin eyes opened.

“Are you alright?"

“I don’t know…I’m…Oh My God!!” she squealed.

“What?” Justin asked, alarmed at her tone.

“I remember!! I remember everything!” she said.

Justin shot up in the bed.

“You do? What do you remember?”

“An accident.” She said.

“Do you remember anything before that?” he asked.

“Yes!” she said.

Justin immediately pulled her into a hug.

“Oh thank God…I knew you could do it.”

Allison buried her face in Justin’s neck.

“I love you.”

Those were the three most beautiful words Justin had ever heard.

“I love you too.”
