Chapter Five “Shy Girl"

DanceGrl22: Jena, my plan is working perfectly.

Pants54: Is this such a good idea?

DanceGrl22: Yes, he deserves it.

Pants54: What if you end up really liking him?

DanceGrl22: Not going to happen. No way.

Pants54: Just be careful.

Jena was always such a worrywart.

Three weeks later….

“Are you coming or not Jordyn? I don’t have all day.” Dan said.

I ran down the stairs. “Jeehz! You sound like Jacob.” I said.

“I heard that.” Jacob replied.

Dan and I just laughed. “You know I love you Jacob.” I called.

“Yeah, yeah.” He mumbled. “You two crazy kids be careful.”

“I make no guarantees.” I said.

Dan raised his eyebrow. “No guarantees huh?”

“Exactly.” I said. “Keeps things interesting.”

We got into Dan’s car and drove to Mike Cronin’s house. He was out of town for the weekend and the boys and I were supposed to be house sitting.

“Now Dan we have a very serious job today.” I said.

“Right. We have to get the mail, check the messages, and water the plants.” He replied.

“And swim in the pool, and play all the video games he has in the basement, and eat all his junk food.” I continued.

“Of course! Can’t forget those parts.” He chuckled.

We pulled into the driveway and got out of the car.

“Damn, this house is big.” I said under my breath.

“Shall we?” Dan asked offering me his hand.

I didn’t want to hold his hand, but I suppose if I wanted him to fall for me I had to do the dirty work.

“Let’s go.” I said placing my hand in his.

He opened the door to the house and we stepped inside.

“Oh man. My old house in Ohio could fit in this living room.” I muttered.

“Come on.” He said dragging me through the house.

We wandered around for awhile and did all our ‘chores.’

“I want to see the pool.” I told him.

“It’s through this doorway.” He said leading me to the pool house.

The pool house was incredible. The pool was Olympic-sized and the water was crystal clear. Plus there was a diving board and a slide.

“This is amazing.” I said.

“Think the water’s cold?” he asked me.

I shrugged. “Probably not. I’m sure with a place like this Mike can afford to heat the pool.”

“Why don’t you test it?” he asked.

I knelt down and put my hand in the water.

“Yeah, it’s pretty war…” I started before I found myself in the pool.

Dan stood on the side laughing hysterically.

“So…not…funny.” I replied spitting out pool water.

“Actually, it is pretty funny.” He said.

“Not as funny as this.” I said grabbing his ankle and pulling him in with me.

“You didn’t just do that.” He said.

“Afraid I did. What are you going to do? Huh? Whine?” I asked.

“Nah. That would be too Jacob-esque. I like to be original.” He said.

“Oh, so what are you going to do then?” I questioned.

“This.” He said leaning closer to me and placing his lips on mine.

It was incredible. My heart accelerated and it was like I couldn’t get enough of him. I couldn’t believe that someone I hated so much could kiss so well. After a moment we broke apart.

“Wow.” I muttered.

“Ohhh, Jordyn’s speechless.” He replied.

“Dan?” I asked.

“Yes.” He said.

“Could you kiss me again?” I asked shyly.

“There’s nothing I’d rather do.” He said pulling me closer.
