Chapter Two-Crazy For This Girl

Saturday Night…

“I’m coming.” Mia called out as the doorbell rang.

She made her way through the hallway and to the front door.

“Hey.” Lance said as she opened the door.

“Hello.” She said giving him a kiss.

“Nice greeting.” He said as they broke apart. “Sure you want to go out with everyone?”

“Of course I do, I hardly get to see them.” Mia said locking the door. “I have to see you all the time.”

“I love you too.” He said putting his arm around her waist and leading her to his car. “Where’s Kara?”

“Chris came by to pick her up.” Mia said getting into car.

“Interesting.” Lance said sliding into the driver’s seat.

“To say the least.” Mia added.

The pair made the short drive to the restaurant and Mia noticed Chris’ PT Cruiser and Justin’s Mercedes in the parking lot.

“I see Justin took the Benz out tonight.” Mia commented.

“It appears so. Do you see Joey or JC’s car?” Lance asked.

Mia scanned the lot.

“No, fashionably late I suppose.”

Lance parked the car and he and Mia headed inside.

“Hey guys.” Mia said to her friends.

“Hey girl.” Justin said giving her a hug. “Haven’t seen you in awhile.”

“Yeah, things have been pretty crazy.” She replied.

“M!” Chris exclaimed.

“C!” she exclaimed back.

He pulled her into a hug.

“So you drove Kara here huh?” she whispered.

“Be quiet little girl.” He said letting go of her.

“Where are the others?” Lance asked.

Kara shrugged.

“I talked to Emilie yesterday and she said they’d be here.”

“And I talked to Joey.” Chris added.

As if one cue the three walked in.

“Sorry we’re late. JC was getting his man perm redone and it took longer than expected.” Emilie Cambridge, JC’s girlfriend, said.

“I was not.” JC protested.

“Fine, he was sorting through his collection of mesh tank tops.” She said.

“Why do I even bother?” he asked, defeated.

“Cause you love me.” Emilie said kissing his cheek.

“Oh yeah.” He replied.

“So what’s your excuse Joey?” Mia asked.

“Certainly not as colorful as JC and Emilie’s.” he replied with a laugh.

“Ready kids? I’m getting hungry.” Justin said.

The group nodded in agreement and the hostess led the group to their table.

Everyone ordered their meal and settled in.

“So Mia, how’s school going?” JC asked.

“Pretty well.” Mia said taking a sip of her water. “The kids are really sweet.”

“How about the reading club?” Emilie asked.

“The girls are working on Little Woman and the boys are reading Tom Sawyer. Then afterwards they’ll switch.” Mia said.

“You’re going to make the boys read Little Woman?” Joey asked.

“It’s a classic.” Justin commented. “Not that I’ve read it or anything.”

“Hmmm…what exactly have you been doing during this hiatus?” Lance asked.

Everyone laughed while Justin blushed.

“So what’s new in the world of public relations Em?” Mia asked.

“Nothing since these guys decided to take a break. Actually without them around my job is a lot less stressful.” She replied.

Emilie worked in the public relations department at Jive Records.

“Timby maybe you should go back to Brit and start a scandal. Then Em will have something to do.” Kara suggested.

“What is this…pick on Justin day?” he asked.

“That’s everyday.” Chris said.

“Indeed.” Kara replied.

“We have to keep those two separated.” Justin said indicating Kara and Chris. “They’re vicious when you put them together.”

Later that night…

Mia yawned and rested her head against Lance’s shoulder.

“Tired?” he asked.

“A little bit.” She replied.

Lance clicked off the television.

“Do you want me to take you home?”

“In a minute.” She said lifting her head up to give him a kiss.

“What are you doing tomorrow?” he asked.

Mia shrugged.

“Probably not too much. What’s up?”

“I’ve got some new demo tapes and I need a second opinion.”

“So why are you asking me? What do I know about music? Ask Justin.”

“You’re more fun to hang out with than Justin.” He said kissing her cheek.

“Aww…you flatter me. Sure, I’ll come over.”

“Excellent.” He said standing up and reaching for her hands to pull her up. “You look beat, let’s get you home.”

Mia nodded in agreement and as soon as she got to her feet she felt extremely light-headed. She immediately held on to Lance.

“What’s wrong?” he asked.

“I’m a little dizzy. I think I got up too fast.”

“Mia are you still having those headaches?”

She looked down at her feet.

“Once in awhile.”

“Mia will you please just go to the doctor.”

“I don’t need to.”

“It would make me feel better. Kara is worried too.”

“Fine, I’ll make an appointment on Monday.”

“Thank you.”
