Wailing Corpse was forged from the ashes of an unnamed band with a wide range of rotating band members. This band never played a show and the only consistent member was a guitar player named Tyler Smart. During the bands last days Tyler had met two brothers, Jer and Russ O'Shea, but soon after the band broke up and they all went there separate ways.

A couple of months later Jer and Russ were looking to make a new band and decided to invite their good friend Matt McArther to be a lead shredder. At this point Jer was playing drums, Russ was Bass, and Matt was the axe. Soon this new unnamed band realized that they would need a new guitar player and a singer. Russ, recalling his past band, decided to invite Tyler into the band. Tyler being a big Iron Maiden fan seemed perfect for second guitar. As well as Tyler, we all agreed that a third guitar player was a good idea and invited
Steve Toews (now in the Hand) into the band, but due to differences and too much noise from the power of 3 guitar players we decided to let him go.

Now with a near complete line up, Tyler had suggested his friend to be the singer in the band. We all agreed and invited him to come to a practice. Due to his busy schedule and never being able to make it to practices we decided maybe he wasn't the best idea for the band. That's when Jer stepped up and said he would be able to sing. Unfortunately, this left a void in the drummer's chair. After a lot of thinking and debating, Jer, Russ, and Matt recalled their good friend from school, Jordan "Wailin" Williams. He had been playing drums for only a little while but it was clear after the first practice that he was just what we needed.

Now with a full line up, we needed a name. After much thought and numerous lists, Russ came up with the odd name of Wailing Corpse. Wailing Corpse was derived from a late night radio drama called The Shadow. The radio announcer had called the episode The Wailing Corpse, but it was clear that once the story started that it was actually called The Walking Corpse. We decided the name was the best thing we could think of and, what the heck, why not?

From there we began to practice Iron Maiden songs and to create our own songs for any shows we could play. After a few unsuccessful attempts, Matt came in with a new song, which he had completely written. The song was called Death From Above.

From there we played our first show in which, we were told after by some new fans, we had outshined the headliners. A couple of shows later we played an incredible show with the local metal heroes, Three Inches of Blood. The show ended awesomely and we walked away from it a better band and a little more well known. More shows past and we gained a little following and then one of the greatest shows we had done to date happened. We played Bright Light Nights, an outdoor show in the central park of Abbotsford, BC. Many fans, and lots of people who would otherwise not have ever heard us were in attendance. It was glorious!!

After that show Russ and Jer had to move away to Penticton, but you can't kill the dead. Matt has started to writing a pile of songs and sending the recordings to Jer and Russ to learn and write lyrics for. The band has been trying to play shows whenever they can until Jer and Russ will be able to make it back to the rest of the band.

Recently Wailing corpse has begun to record their to songs Death From Above and Bird of Prey. We plan to send the recordings to a Heavy Metal Box set.
