Walking is a very enjoyable and healthy pastime. It is a great way to get fit and to stay in shape. Whether you plan to enjoy occasional short walks or progress onto something abit more strenuous there should be something here for you. I have laid out the pages depicting the walks so that they are printer friendly as, hopefully, should the maps. Otherwise it is Important that you carry the correct Ordnance Survey map with you for the walks, not only will it give alternatives if the going is too hard, it is always nice to be able to identify distant landmarks etc. All of these walks will require Waterproof Walking boots, either Leather or Synthetic, well treated and "broken in" if need be. A Waterproof jacket is a good idea, even if the weather looks like it is going to be fine, it can always change with remarkable speed. As to what else to wear, I leave that entirely up to yourselves, some people are happiest walking in jeans and a fleece whilst others will go to town and wear every technical fabric they can get their hands on! A few other things to take, although not essential include a camera, binoculars, a small flask with something hot to drink (or something cold in summer) and a few sweets to suck along the way... |
