Punit Modhgil has been taking photographs for over seven years. He has attended photography programs at University of California, Santa Cruz and University of California, Berkeley.  He is, however, primarily self-taught in the field of people photography.

"Capturing a moment on a film that conveys a story is a challenge. Combine that with the spectrum of human emotions, and you have a never ending quest....."

His most memorable moments shooting have been spent on trips to Europe photographing
people of the continent.

One early morning, while shooting photos of St. Paul's Cathedral at the Vatican, he was approached by a group of young girls from Napoli. They wondered why this photographer was shooting an inanimate object. He spent the rest of the day taking photos of the young women.

Recalling the moment, he says, "I was taking photos using a wall near the main entrance, as the backdrop for the young models. My back was facing the cathedral. Every person who walked in through the entrance saw this photographer taking photos in the other direction and thought he was crazy... before they realized the subjects I was shooting were beautiful and more lively.. that was exciting!."

Punit lives in Palo Alto, California. His other interests are digital media and world music. He is a trained disc-jockey who has spinned at some well known clubs around the world.
