IFMSA Leadership Training Program

and knows the ways of the world

Almost a month before the LTP in Croatia, Lennert and I came across at a film night at the Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam by pure coincidence. Before and after watching the Pulp Fiction, we start talking about fundraising for IFMSA. Few days later, Lennert e-mailed me asking if I would like to join the Leadership Training Program in Croatia as a tutor on fundraising.

Initially, I was not sure how to fit it in my rather tight schedule. But now, having participated in the LTP, I feel very happy that I have done it.

The four days I have spent in Croatia were nothing but splendid. It is a beautiful country with very hospital people; although the food was not absolutely brilliant and the wine was surprisingly bad, still pivo, or the beer, being very tasteful. Better than all, I have enjoyed the hospitality of the Organizing Committee through the program. The OC also was quick in answering my faxes on how to travel there, with precise and clear information. Thank you dear Zeljko and Juraj for the good job!

However, there are few others that I should be thanking (OK, OK, I know I talk too much!):

First, I was positively surprised with the vast variety of the projects going on in IFMSA. I have also witnessed the strong will and eagerness of the new IFMSA generation to do things worthy, and I was impressed with the openness of their minds and their active interest. All of that made me feel confident that the federation is now in much better hands and in much better shape than what I recall of it. Without these beautiful people, this program would not be possible.

Second, to dear Lennert and Luis, who made my participation in the program possible by extending their kind invitation, without which, I would not have the chance of meeting this splendid bunch of people...

Third, personal thanks go to most charming Katja, who patiently, if over and over, listened to me talking about Sanna. She is a lovely person! Personal thanks also go to dear Björg, who has provided me with a copy of the Hávamál, the wise sayings of the Vikings, which are more than 1000 years old. I enjoy the Hávamál, but I also enjoyed our small talks. Very charming person she is...

Last, but not least, thanks to all participated in the Banana Dance, either by dancing or singing. I hope photographers also did a good job, and will not forget to send me few pictures (also for these pages!).

Thank you for all. The friendship of those who have touched this soul shall long be not forgotten.

A true friend
whom you trust well
and wish for his good will:

Go to him often
exchange gifts
and keep him company
