Thermoelectric Generators (TEG) are ideally suited for power requirements for critical services  in remote locations. TEGs provide power for remote control and monitoring sites in the gas pipeline industry, and remote sites for the telecommunication industry. Global's statistics show that they have a 95% share in the TEG market.

The main competition for TEGs comes from solar energy products. Solar energy systems have been proven to be a less cost effective solution to the remote power problem. High maintenance and replacement costs add to the overall costs of solar power.
