The executive committee decided in late August that we would need to raise significant funds to support the budget that we created. We decided to sell merchandise from the Great American Opportunities Inc. fundraising company. We sold candles from the Reflections catalog and a variety of items from the Holiday Happiness catalog. The sales representative, Kevin Schreiner, met with the students to discuss merchandise, prizes and a method for selling. All business students were invited to participate in the fundraiser and many incentives were offered to encourage them to sell. Most of the incentives resulted in cash for the students. The neatest incentive was for any student who sold four items in the first day to receive a scratch off card with some amount of money on it from $1 to $50. The end result was that fifty-four students participated in the fundraiser and we sold over five hundred and forty-six items for $1,500 profit.
