As the Richmond plant winds down its operation, Steve Cushman, Richmond operations manager, has announced he will be leaving Deluxe at the end of August. Steve has devoted 21 years of service to our operations and is saddened to leave, but excited about pursuing a new career opportunity.
Ray Blanchard will assume the operations manager role and manage the Richmond plant until it closes early in 2000.
Steve joined Deluxe in 1978 in the Elk Grove plant. Throughout his Deluxe career, he held a variety of leadership roles: process control specialist for Region II in 1981, assistant production manager of Bensenville in 1983, assistant plant manager of Paoli in 1985, assistant plant manager of Great Valley in 1986, plant manager of Paoli and regional accounting and information manger for Region VI (Paoli) in 1986, and plant manager of Richmond in 1996.
Ray began his career with Deluxe in Springfield in 1974. In 1977 he became a sales representative, and in 1983 he came back to operations in our Boston plant, where he held the roles of assistant plant manager and production manager. In 1987 Ray transferred to Columbus as plant manager, and in 1995 he transferred to Richmond as production manager. Late last year, he took the position of process improvement coordinator when the production manager role was eliminated.
I thank Steve for the many contributions he has made to Deluxe during his 21 years of service, which recently included successfully transferring work from Richmond to Indianapolis. Please join me in wishing Steve, his wife, Denise, and their family the very best, with continued success in their new opportunity. Please also join me in thanking Ray for taking on the challenge of managing the successful closing of the Richmond plant.
