My 2 super duper gazuper fun years in
Hwa Chong Junior College

This is pretty cool, I managed to get almost the exact school colours on this screen. Looks pretty professional if not for the usage of non-existent adjectives above the heading. But that's just how I feel about my years in hjc. :)

Although I gotta admit that we weren't the most spirited CT in school, but we had our fun. Being the tiny class size of 15 that we were ... tutorials were always relaxing and pretty enjoyable (well, to me, at least). Wonder if Mr Woolhead ever managed to get full attendance from us!  :Þ  (tsk tsk ... mingli, ah ...)

Well, as most of you should know, JC life would have been nothing to me without Softball. Another small regret over not taking any pics of the full team in J1. This is the best I got, hope the ones who aren't in this pic won't be offended, I still remember u guys! J1 trainings were probably one of the most fun years I've had, no responsibilties except to show up for training. :) not to forget, of course, our crazy seniors (esp CAPT!) who made us "banana" rgs players crack up with a new "brand" of humour.

Well ... what can I say. This team was the most unforgettable team I've been in. Maybe because it was only a few years ago, but I definitely think it was more than that. Never before did I ever run 2.4km before every training, have so many talks with players who were feeling the pressure to win or felt they were not up to standard. Neither have I seen such miraculous improvements in the rookies in such a short span of time which really made me feel that every single one of our trainings were fruitful. Every thing that year was about committment and dedication. The intial unwilling reccess breaks we would have to attempt to "bond" which gradually became sincerely enjoyable and which we eventually grew to miss after the season ... those rainy afternoons we would just sit down in the canteen and pig out, hoping Coach would cancel training ... those TORTUROUS saturday morning to afternoon trainings under the scorching hot sun when we would all feel dying would be a less painful option. We might have lost the finals, but I don't think any other team had the same kind of learning experience and team spirit that we had.
Trust me, I will NEVER forget the "1997 Dream Team".

My Study Pals:

A typical STUDY day in school before the A Levels (or was it Prelims?) ... Peijun and I, the cao mugger toads who reached school at 7am and left at 11pm almost everyday for about 2 months. We barely survived the haze, but ironically, those days was probably the most enjoyable period of my academic life EVER. our LOUD and vulgar chinese chess sessions, even LOUDER and more vulgar carom games (you really forced me to improve to beat you, pj!) our dinners at Forture, TV breaks just for Phua Chu Kang. Our futile attempts to read our notes during our meals in school. haha, the baguettes from Coro!! So much more that I couldn't possibly put all down. And of course if you want to talk about the constructive stuff we did ... I STILL HOLD THE RECORD FOR 28 FMATHS QNS IN A DAY! honyi and pj, don't you ever forget that! nyuk nyuk nyuk! >:)

"Aiyoh, so hot! So hot!" Every morning at about 9am when Ms Phan Pik Yie walks up to the right wing, those exact words will naturally flow out of her mouth, then up Ms Snooty goes to one of the air-conditioned classrooms. Hardly studied together, but she was always around in school when I needed someone to eat and whine (hah, i made a pun!!!) with. :)

Ok, I know this wasn't taken during the study period, but it's the only one I have with Honyi alone (I think). Was actually taken after our Softball finals after we both chopped off our hair cos we were so frustrated and then later were determined to piah like mad for the A Levels since we couldn't take another disappointment like that morning's. Guess this led to our daily study sessions in school, too, and our race to finish our FM and MC ten-year series. Gotta admit .. that was really fun .....
(pretty sunflowers from our "fried" below ... pte joke, oni the few of us will get it)

Cannot forgot our only form of protection during those late nights in college. Youqing, the male-counterpart of Ms Snooty above, spent most of his time in an air-con classroom, too. Where PJ and I would "retreat" to when it got too dark in the right wing and infested with mosquitos. Also our supplier of free food (ah-hem .. we still haven't forgotten the Students' Lounge incident) and entertainment. Oh yah ... and the crucial supplier of keys, too. >:)

My little "Ray" of sunshine. :) Could always count on Rayson to be lying in the Students' Lounge with some good music playing on the Hi-fi set, of course with a set of Bio (or some other subject that the smarty-pants triple science took that none of us did) notes in his hands. Never made it to be carom king (haha ... Rayse and Biyi got fight ah!) .. but we all loved him anyway. :)

Hey, Jillian ... studied with you more for the Prelims, then you kinda dissed us after that! :Þ We never got down to sitting out at the stairs next to the field again to test each other on Econs (although the one and only time we did that it was really fun! those funky abbreviations we made up to remember the weirdest concepts!), although I do remember how you, Wenxian and I were freaking out the day of the Econs paper. But well ... we both did ok in the end, so no matter!
