I am a rising third year student at the University of Miami School of Law. I posses the qualities of leadership, determination and commitment. By electing me as the President of the Student Bar Association, my peers have indicated their level of faith in my abilities. Prior to my present office, I was elected without a runoff, as the Vice President for the 1997-98 school year. The year prior I received the most votes in the 1L Senate elections in the fall of 1996. My law school experience has also afforded me the opportunity to serve as Judicial Intern for the Honorable Judge Linda Singer-Stein of the Eleventh Circuit. Currently, I am employed as a Law Clerk by Blanck and Associates.
I have received financial awards and honors because of my service to the law school community and my academic ability. I am a Florida Education Fund Scholar, a Mofsky Scholar, and a Dean's Honor Scholar. In addition to these awards, in my first year, I was proud to be made a member of The Society of Bar and Gavel, the highest student honor given at the University of Miami School of Law.
Prior to attending law school, I was a Banking Center Manager for NationsBank. My reputation of a customer friendly, sales conscientious, team leader was earned through my performance. Under my leadership the Dadeland Banking Center, increased its annual loan production from $44,000.00 to over $500,000.00, improved it's Serv/Qual (a measurement of service quality) score from 89 to the 92 (the threshold level needed to receive a rating of excellent), and served as a model for NationsBank's In-Store Banking Centers. I also developed an Excel based loan amortization program that was incorporated in the NationsBank of Florida's new computer system. After my promotion to a larger banking center I achieved success with similarly dramatic increases in the Datran Banking Center sales and service numbers and my inclusion as an inaugural member of the Florida Team One (an annual honor for the states top sales performers from each region). Under my leadership, five members of my team received performance based promotions. These achievements solidified managements faith in my ability to be a sales and service leader.
Prior to my role as a Banking Center Manager, I worked in the General Training department as Management Associate Trainer. In this capacity I received commendation for my ability to coach associates and increase their performance through seminars and focused coaching. I was responsible for creating materials to evaluate and assess the performance of associates. It was during this period that I became a finalist for the NationsBank Olympic Hero award. I was also a nominee for the NationsBank Lend Award.
I am dedicated to a belief in community service. After graduating college to teh present, I have exercised this commitment. I have coached little league football and baseball in a low income urban area. I have also participated in the feeding of homeless through Street Church Ministries. I have organized teams of volunteers to assist at the Daily Bread Food Bank. I am an annual contributor and participant of the United Way. I have also served as a tutor at the Boys and Girls club of Carver Ranches.
As an undergraduate I balanced full time student enrollment with a full time restaurant management position. In 1992, I was chosen to represent the School of Business and Industry (SBI) as a member of the Debate Team. In 1991, I received the honor of Master Evaluator of the Year from the SBI Orator's Club. My desire to be a well rounded student and to sharpen my analytical skills prompted me to take Calculus, Physics, several upper level accounting courses and twelve hours of statistics as electives. In 1990, I interned with Pitney-Bowes as a financial analyst. My review stated that I consistently exceed the expectations of my managers.
I feel the combination of my desire to excel coupled with my history of excellence indicative of the value I add to an organization. I am loyal, self-motivated, bright and articulate. Please take a moment to view my resume any feedback and or commentary is appreciated.
