The Character of the region

The south-east of the area is hilly (average altitude 450-500m over the sea level), parcelled by the affluents of river Sázava, north-east relief downs to lawland (about 250 m)

Features of settlement

The area is a divided: There are populous places of the district of river Labe, there are some rural areas around thge river Sazava too. The towns Kutna Hora, Caslav and to some extent Zruc nad Sazavou make up rather origibal settlemenst.

Industry and Agriculture

The major part of the industry is concentrated in Kutna Hora (engineering, tobbaco and textile industry) and Zruč nad Sázavou (shoe industry), some other centres are Čáslav (food industry), Sázava (glass industry) and Vrdy (building materials). Agriculture produces the beetroot at the northeast of the region and popatoes at the southwest of the region.
