Mina B. Hill

For some reason Mina (pronounced My-nah) is my very favorite person to be looking for. I feel a connection and a closeness to this person whom I have never met.

I have finally found information on "my missing Mina"!!!

Mina B. (Bell) Hill was born to Etta and J.B. (Jesse Bell) Hill on April 24th, 1903. She was born in Morgan Co., Ohio. Mina died October 17th, 1996. *Her SS was 301-24-7248 and her death residence localities were 43787, Dale, Hooksburg, Palmer Roxbury, Stockport and Todds all of Morgan Ohio.*Source familysearch.com

There was a census report taken on 5-7-1910 that states that she was living with her grandparents. 7 MAY 1910 Morgan Twp.Morgan CO.,OH visit 56 line 53

Linda Farmer sent me information she found through the 1920 Census:
Mina B Hill living with Etta and Jessee/Jessie B and a sister and brother! Their names were Lucile and Robert.

QUESTIONS:

It seems to me that the newspaper office misspelled Merle's name in the newspaper article as "Marie" and should be Merle.

I Spoke to one of Mina's granddaughters tonight on the phone! How thrilled I was to speak with her. I asked her what kind of person was Mina and she told me exactly what I "already knew" anyway. She said she spent almost every Summer with Mina while growing up. She also said that she was a tiny (about 4"11 I think she said), very sweet and loving person and very generous. She would open her home to just about anyone that needed help. She also told me that Mina used to bake pies for every single restaurant in Malta and McConnelsville!! Not only did she do all the pie baking, and take care of six children she worked at a furniture store that was known by the kids as "Reds Outlet", however she wasn't sure if that was the actual name of the place. She only knew that Mina's boss had red hair and that's why they called it that. She also confirmed that "Bell" was Mina's middle name. Something else that was told to me was that Mina never had a wrinkle on her face till about three months before she died. She spent the last three years of her life in a nursing home, but could have spent it at home if she'd just taken her medication.
She also confirmed that Mina was indeed married once before she married Lionel. Whether it was a coincidence or what, she was married the first time to a "Roberts" as well as the second time. I asked if the two "Roberts" were in the same family and she said she didn't think so. The first husband to Mina died.
I so wish I had been able to meet this wonderful lady.
My grandfather, Bruce and I will hopefully be taking a trip down to meet this granddaughter and Norma Jean sometime this week or next.
