Tell how each monarch history heard before
There is noble deeds of valor
How there is many a battle fought and won.

Historic words our hearts inspire from EZRA
And from NEHEMIAH and ESTHER
shows the way of God
While JOB receives the chastening rod.

The PSALMS lift up the souls with praise and
PROVERBS teach in homely phrase.

ECCLESIASTES next comes on
And then the SONG of SOLOMONS.

ISAIAS now with vision clear
Beholds a promise Savior near...
While JEREMIAH lifts on high for Israel
voices humbly cry.

LAMENTATIONS paints its grief
While Zion weeps or finds relief.

EZEKIEL, DANIEL each record
The wondrous teaching of the Lord.

HOSEA, JOEL, AMOS to and OBADIAH prophet
true
Are Israel faiths nation earn and move from evil
to return.
Then JONAH, MICAH, NAHUM shows
God's tender love and threatening woes.

HABAKAH praise in words sublime
That rings through all succeeding time.

ZEPHANIAH, HAGGAI, ZECHARIAH, MALACHI
We have part in close review
From ancient scriptures to the new.

And now our SAVIORS birth behold
In MATTHEW gospel sweetly told
MARK, LUKE, JOHN his work disclose
His suffering death and how He rose
And yet HIS HOLY GHOST ascends
And CHRIST his kingdom wide extends.

In ROMANS the apostle Paul
Commends the first of God to all.
CORINTHIANS and GALATIANS shows
The grace that every soul will know.

EPHESIANS and PHILLIPIANS tell
The zeal His life portrayed so well.

COLOSSIANS and THESSALONIANS speak
Of hope and comfort to the weak.

In TIMOTHY Paul's son we find
In TITUS friendship warm and kind.

PHILEMON shows how love constrains
While HEBREWS all its types explains.

With JAMES and PETER, JOHN and JUDE
And REVELATIONS we conclude
The books that we God's word divine
Like stars of endless glory shine.
