Mindi motioned for me to sit down on the couch. "As you might know, I sing as well."

"Yea, that's what I've heard... I didn't get to hear you tonight," I sighed unhappily. "I'm sure your great though!"

"Thanks," she laughed. "But anyway, back to my plan. Well, if you want to, I'll sing something with you." I smiled broadly. All I did was sing part of one song, and already Mindi wants to sing with me! "First, though, do you play any musical instruments?"

"Other than my voice?" I laughed. She nodded. "Yep, clarinet and bass clarinet."

"Ooo, cool," sme smiled. "Hm...I'm trying to think if we have any, I doubt it though. Lemme go talk to Tommy, K?" I nodded as she walked out. I leaned back against the lumpy couch and sighed, closing my eyes. This was a dream come true... a dream come true.... Slowly I slipped off into a dream world.

Suddenly, I was startled from my dreams of monkeys and My Little Ponies. My eyes flew open. Gasping for breath, I sat up straight on the couch. oh God, not again! My breaths came out in ragged gasps. Just them Mindi walked in with Tommy.

"Oh God Jess!" she cried, running over to me. "Are you ok? What's wrong? What happened?" I just shook my head, hoping she'd get that not only wasn't I ok, I didn't know what was wrong with me. "OK," she said biting her lip. "This isn't good," she said, biting her lip.

"Mindi, you go get Denise, I'll stay here with her," Tommy volunteered. I looked at Tommy, trying to tell him he didn't have to. He just motioned for Mindi to leave. "It'll be ok, Jess," he said, turning to me. I just nodded.

Denise came running in not even a minute later, with Howie tagging behind her. Immediately she sat on the couch next to me. "OK Jess, can you take a deep breath for me sweetie?" I tried and winced in pain. "Howie, call an ambulance!" I shook my head frantically at this. "Sweetie you have to, that's the only way we'll know what's wrong with you." I sighed as best as I could and looked down at the ground, still gasping.

Howie turned towards us, "It should be here soon," he said softly. Sitting down next to me, he said, "You'll be fine... hang in there sweetie." I could have sworn I saw a single tear fall down his cheek. My heart melted.

A new voice could be heard over my horrible sounds. "What's wrong?" it asked.

"AJ, hun we're handling this," Denise told her son gently.

"But Mom, what's wrong?" he asked, coming into the room. Then he realized where the sound was coming from. His eyes, big and brown, met my tear-filled ones. He stared at me before coming towards me.

Just then, a dude from teh hospital came running in. I was taken off on a stretcher, with Denise and Howie in the ambulence with me and AJ, Tommy, and Mindi in a car right behind us.
