I sat up tiredly in the lumpy hospital bed. Luckily, my breathing was back to normal. I looked around at the scene in front of me. Howie sat on the edge of the bed with AJ. They were leaning against each other, half asleep. How cute! :) Denise sat in a chair next to my bed, while Tommy and Mindi sat in chairs across from Howie and AJ. It seemed everyone was asleep but me. I moved my foot, which was starting to fall asleep, and in doing so I accidentaly kicked AJ. He looked back at me with sleepy eyes. 'Sorry' I mouthed. He smiled tiredly. 'it's ok' he mouthed back. He and I looked up as the doctor walked in.
"I see you have a whole party here," the doctor laughed.
"Yea, most of whom are asleep," I smiled.
"I'll keep it to a whisper then. Allright Miss, you seem to have come down with a severe case of asthma. You're lucky though, because our tests indicate that there is a tiny tumor in your lung. Nothing that can't be taken out." I bit my lip as he said the last part, and AJ looked sadly back at me. "You'll need to stay here overnight so we can take out this thing tommorow." I sighed and nodded.
"Can I call my mom?" I asked. I realize that it's about 12 at night, but i should let her know that i'm not in bed like i should be....
"It's already been done," the doctor smiled.
"How?" I asked. "Nobody knows my last name..."
"Recognized you," he laughed. "Checkups and stuff."
"Oh yea," I smiled sheepishly.
"I'll leave you to get some sleep now, allright?" he said as he walked out. I turned sadly to AJ.
"A tumor?" I asked disbelievingly. He scooted up the bed to give me a hug. Howie woke up as he fell down.
"What's goin on?" he asked groggily.
"Jess has a severe case of asthma and a tiny tumor in her lung." AJ filled him in.
"Oh wow..." Howie said. He also went to the head of the bed and hugged me. The three of us sat there in the embrace till I started to get sleepy.
