"Brian! STOP! It's not funny!" she screams, laughing anyway, her face flushed with joy.
"Why, dear?" he laughs, continuing to sit on her and tickle her. All of a sudden, she collapses. His eyes get wide. "Jess!" he cries out. "Wake up, my love! Please.. Oh, God... What did I do?" he sobs when she doesn't respond to him.
"You did absolutly nothing. She tends to faint easily- she is a diabetic, you know. She will be fine, give her a few hours." I call out smiling at his concern for her. He looks up, shocked.
"An angel......." he whispers. His best friend Chris walks in. He sees Jess lying in brian's arms and looks stunned. He looks to see what Brian is staring at.
"Wow...." he says softly to Brian. Brian is momentarily shaken out of his daze.
"She will be fine," I repeated gently. "Just remember... don't over excite her a lot- her body isn't used to it, for she is very sick, and I know you couldn't bear to lose her." I fade away, still watching. Jess still lies asleep, so I go off to another helpless soul. From what I've seen, Jess and Brian have been married almost 5 years now, and they have two adorable children- Aaron(4) and Amanda(2, almost 3) I smile remembering that day, 6 years ago.
"What's wrong, Jessica sweetheart?" he asks, obviously very concerned about her. I ask the same question, silently. It is obvious he loves her, what more does she want?
"Everything. I just don't know anymore." she sighs and leans her head against Brian's chest.
Once again, I am reminded of another time, another distressed victim.
