40th
DIVISION
Formed in Great
Britain in July 1915 as a Bantam Division, from the Locally Raised Bantam
Battalions from all over the country. Arrived in France in June 1916.
The Division was reduced to Cadre in May 1918 and was reconstituted
in June 1918 with Battalions of a low grade. Served in France and Flanders
until the Armistice.
