12th INDIAN DIVISION

British units only.

Formed in March 1915, the Division arrived in Mesopotamia in April 1915. The 12th Division served in Mesopotamia until it was broken up in March 1916. The Brigades remained independent after the Division was broken up until forming part of the 15th Division in May 1916.

Unless indicated all the Division mentioned in the following narratives are Indian.

1/5th Bn Queen’s. Feb 1916 - May 1916. To the 15th Division.
2nd Bn Queen’s Own. Jan 1915 - Nov 1915. The Battalion split two Companies went to the 34th Brigade and the remaining two Companies stayed with the 12th Brigade.
2 Coys 2nd Bn Queen’s Own. Nov 1915 - Jan 1916. To the 6th Division.

30th Brigade. (Joined the Division in Apr 1915.)

1/4th Bn Hampshire Regt. May 1915 - Oct 1915. To the 33rd Brigade.

33rd Brigade. (Broken up Dec 1915.)

1/4th Bn Hampshire Regt. Oct 1915 - Feb 1916. Formed the Composite Territorial Bn with the 1/5th Bn Buffs in the 7th Division.
