This shipwreck was located by fisherman Captain Len Cabral while trawling for smelt in 2003. On August 6, 2003, a bunch of dive buddies from Kent Divers Association explored a newly rediscovered shipwreck. At 58 feet, laid upright, is a 3 masted schooner. During the 2005 dive season, numerous explorations were enjoyed. On one dive, I was able to shoot some video which has been helpful to steer our research for this ship's identity in a critical direction. On other dives, Marine Archaeology Survey Team members were able to take some still shots. Dimensions are about 140 x 35 feet. This group also found the capstan lying deep in the silt. Attempts to uncover the cover plate were passed up as to save the great visibility being experienced on this dive. Research efforts by MAST members led by Mike and Georgeann Wachter identified this lost vessel as the E.S. ADAMS.
Document surrendered Mar 5, 1866, annotated "lost".
Owned by Norris & Neeland, St. Catharines (also shown as owned out of Montreal)

Our research continues and there will be more exploration and survey work in this upcoming season of 2007.
