We will always remember Abouda as a
man with a great sense of humour. He always had something funny to say; and
who among us has never been teased by him?
As youngsters,
his children notice their father, his nephews and nieces notice their uncle, by his way of always being well dressed, with much elegance.
I was also told that it was "oncle Abouda" that always had the very best cheese and mortadella in the whole town!
This man has
demonstrated a lot of courage and determination, namely by emigrating from Egypt to Canada, not an easy thing to do at the age of 54; this in order to be with his
family. He also overcame two events which greatly affected him: his son
Maged's accident and the death of his granddaughter Nadine.
No man is an
island, and when we think of uncle Abouda or of Gueddo, we automatically also think of tante Alice or of Teta. They
supported one another to get through the difficult times I mentioned and have always been
Thus, this is a
great loss for Teta and it brings her a lot of sadness.
However, Teta,
remember that you are not alone, looking around you, you will see everyone that loves you. And, Gueddo himself has not left you. He will always be there to look after you.
Myself, I have
seen how what characterised my Gueddo remained even throughout the latest stage of his life. Always a great sense of
humour, always his great strength and fierce independance.
Everything that
has defined the person whom Gueddo has been gives us the reasons for which we wish he remained with us forever; but, of course, the time comes when God decides that
He must take him away. We will all greatly miss you. We pray so that you
will take care of yourself, and of us, because we know that you will always be with us, and one day, we will see you again.
