My Ratings

I basically rate thing on a scale of 0-5. 2 means I'm neutral. There are more ratings for good things than for bad things because if it's bad, who wants to know about it? (Unless it's the worst thing ever, which would be quite impressive, in a screwed up kind of way.)

A Brief Back-ground
(Sometimes I make mistakes, but keep them for no particular reason.)

After getting told that my system wasn't accurate enough, I added 5 interpolations. (I kept the basic structure since I had already used it in a fanzine and a lot in conversation. In short, people had got used to it, and I'm a stubborn f'ing'stard.)

'12' means '1 going on a 2'. I left a gap around the 2 because a 2 shows that I am totally impartial and I felt that I needed to preserve that spirit. I left a gap before the 5 to show how good a 5 really is. If I had created a '5à4', then I feel that the 5 would have been cheapened, and tarnished. (And we all know that a 5 isn't some cheap hooker. It is a thing of beauty, to be admired and basked in the glory of.) I left 2 gaps between the 1 and 0 because if it's that bad, all you need to know is to avoid it like something rather nasty.

I hope that since the ratings are clearly explained, people will be able to understand things, and rate things themselves when sending reader-reviews.

What those ratings mean

(It's harder than you might imagine to write these stupid little comments...)

0: I hate it. I wouldn't go near it again unless I was strongly motivated. (Perhaps by money, or a threat on my life.)

1: I definitely dislike it. (Hate is such a strong word…)

12: I slightly dislike it.

2: I feel totally indifferent to this, whatever it is.

32: I am marginally in favour of this particular item, event or product.

3: I definitely like this. I might not necessarily reccomend it, though.*

34: I more than 'just' like this.

43: Almost something really special. Not quite.

4: Something really special.

45: This could'vs been brilliant, but had some minor flaw, or maybe fell slightly short on the 'X-factor'.

5: Brilliant. Crème de la crème. Stands supreme. An all time favourite. Needless to say, I like it.

*Disclaimer - no matter how much I like something, there will always be people who don't. All I can do Is tell you the facts, give my verdict and leave you to make your own judgement.
