Anime Forum Games Links Movies Music Profiles Survivor TV Shows Terminator is one of the series I just don't like. I've never seen all of either of the first two films. The first one just didn't interest me while I just couldn't stand the young actor in T2. Now, I saw Terminator 3 because my friends wanted to see it and I was really wanting a good action movie after seeing crap like The Hulk. Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines starts a number of years after the second movie. John Conner is now in his 20's and he's moving from place to place, just incase something is sent back to kill him. A new Terminator is sent into the past, the T-X, it's mission is to kill off specific kids that may be connected to Skynet. Conner meets up with Kate Brewster and they end up bonding along with another Terminator who has been sent back to save them from the T-X. Now they need to escape the T-X and find a way to stop Skynet. The plot is good enough. I enjoyed it and understood most of it without having seen all of the first two films. There isn't a lot of plot in the first hour but the plot picks up later on in the film. Arnold Schwarzenegger returns as the Terminator and he does a good job I guess as an emotionless machine. The role just doesn't require that much skill. Nick Stahl plays John Conner and he's a much better actor than the kid who played John in T2. Claire Danes plays Kate and while she does a decent enough job, she just isn't that good of an actor. Overall, the acting is decent enough, not good but good. James Cameron doesn't return for this film but Jonathan Mostow proves that he's just as good of a director. The action scenes are done fairly well. The cemetary scene was a little unbelievable and has a few questionable things happning in it but the freeway scene before that is just great and easily blows away the car chase scene from Matrix Reloaded. The script is good but the fact remains that the first half of the movie is nothing but action while the second half has a lot of plot. In the end I enjoyed Terminator 3. It isn't the best movie ever but it's a good action movie and it does deliver a plot even if it is halfway through the film. Big fans of the series should check it out, along with casual movie goers.
