Taylor worked with his brothers for a while, then got up to do the things his mother had asked him to do. Once that was done, he took a quick shower and got dressed. On his way back, his brothers stopped him, wanting to go over something they had started earlier. He sat down after looking at the clock to make sure he had time, then started to work with his brothers again. "Tay?" Ike tried to get his attention as Taylor looked at the clock for the millionth time. "TAY!" Zac elbowed him. "WHAT?" Taylor gave his brother a warning look. "How many times are you gonna look at the clock in the next FIVE miutes? Are you late for something?" Ike asked, grinning. "Not yet. Do we HAVE to do this now? I gotta go.." Taylor answered, looking at the clock again. It was ten minutes to 7:00 and he knew Day would be waiting. "We can finish later, man." Ike said, shaking his head. "See ya." "Yeah, Tay. See ya.." Zac grinned, looking at Ike. "Later.." Taylor said and pulled the door to their room open. "Hey Tay.." Zac called before he could close the door. "What?" he pause in the doorway, waiting impatiently. "Tell Dayna we said HIIIII!!!" they said in unison, falling over each other and laughing. "Kiss my ass, morons.." he grinned and shut the door. Taylor flew through the kitchen, grabbing a cup of coffee on his way out the door. "Going somewhere, son?" his mother asked, hand on her hip and smiling. "Yeah mom. I won't be out too late and I'm taking my own car. Don't worry." he said and reached for the doorknob. "Okay, but don't keep her from getting her homework done. I REALLY need her tomorrow." she said. Taylor smiled brightly at his mother, and kissed her on the cheek. "No problem, Mom." He bounded out the door and down the step to the driveway, jumped in his car and took off. |
Dayna looked up from her reading and stretched, looking at the clock. Holy shit! Almost seven already. She got up and closed all her books, stacked her papers and stuffed them in her binder, then took them over to her computer desk and shoved them in the lower cabinet. She went to the bathroom flipped on the light and checked her hair, then laughed at herself. It was only Taylor, for goodness' sake. He'd seen her in a lot worse condition than this in the last two and a half years she'd known him. But it was different now, and she worried that she would lose her friend if things went wrong. She would truly miss him if they did. Dayna stop, she told herself, this had to be right or she wouldn't be so worried about it to begin with. She went to the kitchen and washed the few dishes left in the sink, dried them and put them away. It was close to 7:30 now, and she worried that maybe he was having second thoughts. She sighed heavily, got out her notes, switched on her computer and started work on her paper. No sooner did she get into the program, there was a knock at the door. She took a quick sip of her coffee, set it down, swiveled out of her chair and opened the door. Taylor was standing there, out of breath, and looking worried. "Day..I'm sorry I'm late..." he apologized. "That's alright, angel. I was just working on my paper. Come on in.." she stood aside to let him in. As soon as she shut the door behind him, he pulled her into his arms and kissed her. She melted into him, letting her fingers comb through the ends of his hair. "I really am sorry for being late, Day. Ike and Zac couldn't let me leave without giving me grief. You know how they are." he grinned down at her. She smiled up at him. "Yeah, didja knock their heads together before you left?" she asked, having been witness to many of the loud wrestling matches they tended to have. "I thought about it.." he chuckled. "But then I would have been even later. I wanted to see you more." he told her. "Remind them to thank me then , angel." she giggled. "Want a cup of coffee while I shut this thing down?" "No coffee, Day. I'm already shaking, had more than my two pot quota today." he said leaning over her as she saved what she had and then closed out the program. As the computer did it's thing she turned her head to look at him. He was smiling at her, his blue eyes twinkling when she licked her suddenly dry lips. He reached down and took her hand, making her chair swivel. He helped her up and pulled her into his arms again, twirling a blond curling lock at her forehead around his finger. He let go and watched it spring back, then laid his hand on her cheek. "I couldn't sleep for shit last night, Day. All I could think about was you." he said softly. "I thought about you all night, too, angel." she smiled up a him and wrapped her arms around his neck. "Good. What were you thinking?" he asked, pushing her long mass of curls back behind her shoulders. |
"Mostly good stuff, angel. The rest was just torturing myself.." she sighed and kissed his cheek. "What do you mean, Day?" he asked, stroking her cheek. "Same stuff I was worried about last night angelface." she said. "I told you I didn't care what anybody else thought, Day. But I am worried about how you are going to stay in school, without having to work full time. Did you think about that at all?" he grinned. "Nope!" she laughed. "Too much other stuff and too much beer messin' with my head. You don't need to worry about that. I can manage. Wouldn't be the first time." she smiled. "Anyway, midterms are not that far off, then I get a break from classes. There'll be plenty of calls then, holiday parties and all, so I'll work through my break and catch up..See? not hard to figure out if you're not buzzin'" she giggled. "You won't work so much that I won't get to see you at all will you?" he asked, with an exaggerated pouty face, making her laugh again. "I can always find time for you, angel." she told him. |
